Jerry's Cafe
1601 S Grand St, Amarillo

I couldn't believe how delicious my breakfast was at Jerry's Cafe! This place is definitely a hidden gem in Amarillo. We loved that they offered "mini" bowls of menudo, which was perfect alongside our meals. The menudo even satisfied a pregnancy craving, and that's saying a lot! The food was 10/10 and the service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, and despite how busy it was, our food came out fast and tasted amazing. The location might not catch your eye from the outside, as it's just off I-40, but the authentic flavors are worth the stop. The potatoes were a highlight for me, cooked to perfection. The coffee can be hit or miss, but that's a minor detail compared to the overall experience. One of the waitresses was particularly awesome, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. If you're passing through or in the area, you really need to check out Jerry's Cafe. You won't be disappointed, and we'll definitely be back for more great meals.
Shelby’s
4105 Tradewind St, Amarillo

Jesse Payne
Shelby's for breakfast in Amarillo is amazing! The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch, but the atmosphere took it to another level. Watching planes take off and land just feet away was an incredible experience. It's a bit pricey for some items but absolutely worth it. The restaurant is right on the tarmac, offering stunning views of small aircraft coming and going. The ciabatta sandwiches were delicious, and even the chicken fingers were impressive. The fresh-cut french fries and the pie were out of this world. It's definitely worth the six-minute detour from the highway for such a unique dining spot. This cute little diner, attached to an airport, offers great views of planes while you enjoy your meal. They were flexible with breakfast times, so we could still get it after 11:00. I highly recommend the Wildcat Steak and Cheese sandwich on homemade bread—it's a must-try! The place is incredibly clean, even the windows, which is quite a feat in Amarillo. The bacon was the best, my eggs were perfectly cooked, and the buttery toast was unbeatable. I noticed lots of delicious-looking lunches being served too. The waiters were friendly and efficient. They have prime rib on Friday nights and a special on Thursday nights. Overall, Shelby’s is a fantastic spot for breakfast with excellent food, service, and a truly unique atmosphere.
Meme’s D.O.C.

Cute little diner! Meme’s D.O.C. is a gem that you shouldn’t judge by its cover. We stopped here for breakfast during our Route 66 road trip and had a wonderful experience. The omelette, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and grits were all excellent. The classic diner atmosphere made for a truly authentic experience, and the super-friendly service really stood out. We even ended up chatting with some other customers—it’s just that kind of welcoming place. Later, I went back for lunch and ordered catfish, soup, and substituted broccoli for a baked potato, which they were unfortunately out of. The catfish was not quite what I expected, but the broccoli was decent and the soup was good. Despite a few minor hiccups, the overall experience was great. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, adding to the homey atmosphere, and the prices were reasonable for what you get. It’s a place I recommend for the friendly vibes and diner classics.
Ye Olde Pancake Station
2800 Virginia Cir A, Amarillo

Miguel Garrett
I admit it, I'm a yokel! There's something special about Ye Olde Pancake Station that keeps me coming back, and it's not just the T-shirts the staff wear with the slogan "Ye Old Pancake Station where the Local Yokels eat." The food is outstanding, and the staff are incredibly affable and courteous. When I order the Belgian waffle, I always get a double order of blueberry topping because the waffle is so huge that it needs extra fruit to cover it. The recent remodel has made the space airy and inviting. Although it's tucked away off the main roads, local yokels like me make it a point to find it because it’s that good. It's wheelchair accessible and service dog friendly, too. Later in the day, the place transforms into the Lost Cajun Restaurant, where the food continues to impress. Those biscuits are to die for, and the pancakes are massive. I'm thrilled to have discovered this gem, and it's definitely on my list to revisit anytime I'm in town visiting my mom. The staff is friendly, and we shared some good laughs. On my last visit, on a busy Sunday at noon, the place was packed, which shows just how popular it is. Even though we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table, we were promptly served with coffee and drinks once seated. The portions are generous, and our meal was ready in about ten minutes. The parking lot is level and free, which is a nice plus. While the women's bathroom had a line, I heard the men's room was clean. It's conveniently located near shopping, hotels, and highways. Whenever I'm in Amarillo, you can bet I'll be stopping here again. If you're visiting, don't miss out on this place—it's easily the best pancake spot in town. YUM YUM YUM!
Girasol Cafe and Bakery
3201 Coulter St S, Amarillo

Amanda Rodriguez
Girasol Cafe and Bakery was the perfect spot for breakfast this morning. Everything looked and tasted delicious, from the huevos rancheros and avocado toast to the kale salad and potatoes. The employees were incredibly nice and helpful, making the experience even better. The patio in the morning feels magical, with a breeze, sunflowers, and the soothing sounds of wind chimes and a fountain. The friendly black cat roaming around was a sweet bonus. I always enjoy their breakfast croissant with bacon and sunny side up eggs, which I eat open-faced to savor each bite without getting too full. Their baked goods are fantastic, adding to the overall charm of this amazing little cafe. The place is on the small side, so seating can get tricky, especially when the outdoor section is closed during winter. Despite that, the food feels home-cooked, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. The staff's kindness and the reasonable pricing make it all worth it. I'd definitely recommend this spot. I also tried the seasonal bacon, parmesan, and lemon salad, the turkey avocado sandwich, and a burger, all of which were amazing. Although the atmosphere could use some sprucing up, it's a cute local gem that I thoroughly enjoyed.
OVR-EZE

I had a great breakfast at OVR-EZE in Amarillo. Arriving early was a good choice because it was nice and quiet, just the way I like it. Ariel was our server, and she was warm, friendly, and really knew how to recommend the best food. My wife loved the biscuits and gravy, while I decided to try something different and was very pleased. The atmosphere is welcoming, and talking to the front manager was a great experience. It's best to go early before the crowd comes in. The food was excellent! The bacon twists were a delicious appetizer, and the upside down mimosa I had was fantastic. My husband enjoyed the cinnamon toast spiked coffee. The chicken fried steak was tasty, the waffles were delightful, and the fruit was fresh. We also tried the French toast, which was huge but delicious. The cheesy potatoes stood out with queso from Joe Taco, my favorite! Kristen, another server, impressed me with her smile and great suggestions. I highly recommend stopping by OVR-EZE. We also had a wonderful experience with Terry, who served us the Tennessee hot chicken and chorizo pizza, both of which were excellent. Terry ensured all our questions were answered and offered great recommendations. I'll definitely be back!
Bagel Place
3301 Bell St, Amarillo
(806) 353-5985
Terri Darland
This was my first visit to Bagel Place, and it was a fantastic experience. The eatery offers great service and delicious food. With a wide variety of selections, there's something for everyone. The dining room is clean and well-maintained, and they offer both eat-in and to-go options. I had the bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a Parmesan bagel, and it was incredibly good and filling. I paired it with a hazelnut cappuccino, which was a perfect match. Although there was a line, the wait wasn't long, and it was definitely worth it. Since I just moved to the area, I'm thrilled to have found this gem. I'll be saying yes to visiting again and again. The service was fast, the food looked great, and the employees seemed genuinely happy. The bagel was perfectly toasted, and they don't skimp on the smear. While it was busy in the drive-thru, likely because of the cold weather, the friendly and helpful staff made the wait worthwhile. If you stop by, make sure to try the Taos soup—it's a must!
Youngblood's Cafe
620 SW 16th Ave, Amarillo

Mỹ Tâm Newby
Walking into Youngblood's Cafe felt like stepping into a true Texan dining experience. The decor was charmingly rustic, and the place was bustling, which is always a great sign. I'm from Houston, and I was genuinely impressed with the quality of food in this small city of Amarillo. We decided to visit Youngblood's because we heard about it from the Day Tripper, a Texas blogger known for finding hidden gems, and I have to say, it lived up to the hype. I came in during the lunch hour but had my heart set on breakfast, and I wasn’t disappointed. The bacon was crispy, the hash browns were perfectly cooked, and the eggs were just right. I usually skip grits, but I took a chance this time, and they were surprisingly delicious. We also tried the chicken fried steak, which was real steak with just the right amount of breading. You don't find them like this anymore. The meatloaf wrapped in bacon was another highlight, so flavorful and unique. The sausage and biscuits were equally impressive; the biscuits were fluffy and tender, and the gravy was seasoned to perfection. We tried some lunch items, too—my Cajun-style grilled catfish had the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and I loved my choice of Navy bean soup. The chicken fried chicken and Vicki’s Chicken Fried Steak were also on our table, and although I was skeptical about the green chili sauce with gravy, it was a delightful surprise. Service was stellar, and Sabrina was particularly amazing, making sure we had everything we needed. The portions were large, the prices were reasonable, and everything arrived quickly. As we wrapped up our meal, we were treated to free banana pudding, which was a sweet ending to a fantastic dining experience. If you're in Amarillo, you can't go wrong with Youngblood's Cafe. Great food, great service, and a genuine Texan atmosphere make it a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town.
Jimmy's Egg

Adan Tarpin
I had a great breakfast experience at Jimmy's Egg in Amarillo. The staff was really nice, and the timing was perfect – my food arrived just as I was finishing my first cup of coffee, and they even refilled it. The portions were decent, and the food was delicious. Holly, our waitress, was spectacular, ensuring we were well taken care of. I’ve only been there once before, and I couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. So, I brought my best friend along last weekend, and it was just as amazing. The place was clean and quiet, allowing us to take our time with the menu. Our food came out fast and piping hot! I had the Carne Asada Skillet with hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, white queso, and pepper jack cheese – so creamy! It also came with two pieces of bacon and a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were huge! Our waitress was sweet and made sure our drinks were always filled. We arrived around 7:30 on a Sunday morning, and it was quiet, but by 8:15, it was bustling. We were finishing up by then, so it worked out perfectly. Both my best friend and I agreed it was a great breakfast, and we’ll definitely be going back!
Chick-fil-A
2525 S Georgia St, Amarillo

Jason Soun
I had a breakfast stop at Chick-fil-A in Amarillo and overall, it was a positive experience. My kids really enjoy the food there, and I was pretty happy with what I got too. The drive-thru line was quite busy, but the staff was friendly and efficient despite the rush. Unfortunately, I didn't get a fork with my spicy chicken salad, but that's a minor hiccup. I went in excited to try the new Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich and the seasonal caramel crumble shake. The sandwich was a pleasant surprise with its sweet pimento cheese sauce and just a hint of heat from the jalapeños. I think it's a great addition and would make an excellent permanent menu item. As for the fries, they were hot, generously salted, and it was nice to get extra sauce packets without having to ask. The caramel shake had a nice light caramel flavor and a bit of crunch from the crumble, though I wish there had been more cookie pieces. While there, my kid accidentally spilled some chocolate milk and a staff member named Sylvia was quick to help us out, which I really appreciated. It’s clear the staff at this location are attentive and dedicated to making sure customers have a good experience. Overall, I'd rate the sandwich a 9/10 and the shake a 7/10. Despite some minor issues, the positive aspects of my visit outweighed the negatives, and I’d be happy to return for another meal.
Burrito Stop
114 SE 9th Ave, Amarillo

Burrito Stop in Amarillo is a must-visit for breakfast lovers. The homemade tortillas and fresh ingredients make their breakfast burritos truly satisfying. While I used to be a fan of their veggie burrito, I recently opted for the loaded breakfast burritos and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Although the portion could be larger, the taste more than made up for it. They offer a variety of Tex-Mex options, and I also tried the cheese enchiladas with a perfectly cooked egg on top. My partner enjoyed the tripas tacos, and while the portion was a bit light, the flavors were spot on. The staff provided excellent customer service, which added to the positive experience. Don't skip the chance to try their delicious lemonade or explore their range of Mexican bottled sodas. Overall, Burrito Stop is a delightful spot for anyone looking for flavorful breakfast or lunch in Amarillo.
Jacobo's Cafe
3701 Olsen Blvd, Amarillo

Fani Tran
Jacobo's Cafe in Amarillo is a fantastic spot for breakfast. The atmosphere is great and very inviting, and the service is top-notch. The food is fresh, hot, and exactly how I ordered it. I tried the flat-style enchiladas with extra cheese and a fried egg on top, paired with an ice-cold Coke with two limes. The sauce was decent but could use a bit more flavor. The side of beans was alright, and the potatoes with peppers were okay, though a bit undercooked for my taste. I stopped here during a road trip for my hiking YouTube channel, "Beyond the Pavement," and I was blown away by their shrimp stew—easily some of the best I've ever had. The flavor was amazing, and the restaurant was clean with friendly staff. I'm definitely planning to come back next time I'm in town. I also had a sausage breakfast burrito with hashbrowns and cheese sticks. The burrito was satisfying, though the hashbrowns had a slimy texture I didn't enjoy, and the cheese sticks were cooked a bit too quickly. Despite these small issues, the burrito hit the spot. Jacobo's Cafe offers authentic Mexican food with quick service, making it a great choice for breakfast.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Amarillo is a convenient stop right off I-40. We visited for supper on August 3, 2024, and it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, allowing us to be seated immediately with no wait. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, getting our order right and bringing our food to the table in about 15 minutes. The bathrooms were clean, which is always a plus, and the store was well-stocked with some great deals, offering items at 40-60% off. The atmosphere at Cracker Barrel is always inviting and cozy, making it an excellent choice for family meals. During our visit, we tried several dishes. While the food wasn’t exceptional and seemed to lack distinct flavors, the overall experience was still enjoyable. The bacon and French toast didn’t stand out, but the service made up for it. Our server was sweet and assertive, ensuring we had everything we needed. In terms of ambiance, Cracker Barrel never fails to deliver with its warm, homey vibe and charming decorations. Despite the food not being the highlight of the visit, the restaurant remains a favorite go-to spot for its welcoming environment and friendly staff.
Calico County Restaurant

Iasmyn Smith
I had the pleasure of dining at Calico County for breakfast, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit, which made us feel right at home. The food was simply delicious. I tried the chicken Philly with fries, and I couldn't get enough of how crispy the fries were and how well-seasoned the sandwich was. The juicy chicken and buttery, toasted bread were perfect. I also had the eggs and chicken fried steak, and I devoured the entire plate. Their cinnamon rolls were a delightful bonus! The place was clean, had a good atmosphere, and all the staff were welcoming. My only slight critique was the gravy on the biscuits and gravy—it tasted a bit like hospital-grade gravy. It could use a bit more punch, maybe more sausage, but it was still good overall. This restaurant is a gem, and I can't wait to come back next time with my family. I highly recommend it, especially if you have Ruby as your server—she really adds to the experience with her warm and personable nature. Eating here brought back memories from when I worked at the restaurant in the 80s, and it’s great to see that their excellent food and service remain unchanged. Five stars for a great experience!
Denny's
1710 I-40, Amarillo

Esteban Vivas
So, my husband, daughter, and I decided to give Denny's in Amarillo another shot after some past experiences that weren't great. This time, it was clear things had changed for the better. As soon as we walked in, multiple employees greeted us warmly, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated quickly, and our drinks and food arrived just as fast. Our server, Shakira, was incredibly kind and polite, clearly skilled at her job. The entire team seemed to work seamlessly together, creating a positive atmosphere. It felt like they were under new management, and it showed in the quality of service. On another visit, we had Diane M as our waitress. She seated us promptly and had hot coffee on the table before we even got comfortable. Our breakfast was served quickly, and everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. I would have taken pictures, but the food was too good to wait, leaving me only with a delicious English muffin by the time I thought of it. Diane was attentive and awesome, making the experience even better. Despite the construction next door, we enjoyed a peaceful meal in our booth. And when we decided to go for breakfast for dinner, Denny's was a fantastic choice. Our server handled our large group's orders with kindness and patience, ensuring everything was accurate and delicious. The milkshake we ordered for dessert came with an extra portion, a sweet bonus to end our meal. Overall, if you haven't been to this Denny's in a while, I highly recommend giving it another try. You won't be disappointed!
Fuzzy's Taco Shop

I've been to Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Amarillo twice now for breakfast, and my experience was fantastic. The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch, making the visit enjoyable all around. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the breakfast burrito, while my friend chose the carne asada burrito. We also got chips and queso and a variety of tacos. The chips and queso were definitely a highlight for me; they were delicious and just right. The service was quick and friendly, which added to the positive experience. The staff went out of their way to accommodate a small issue with an order I placed for Fuzzy's Dust spices. Although the online system didn’t initially offer a shipping option, the shop handled it smoothly and mailed them to me without any hassle. This kind of service really stood out and showed their commitment to customer satisfaction. I appreciate Fuzzy's consistency in delivering enjoyable food and good service, and while there have been minor hiccups, their overall track record has been positive. I’d recommend Fuzzy's Taco Shop to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in Amarillo.
Cattleman's Cafe

Don’t judge a book by its cover. My husband and I absolutely loved Cattleman's Cafe for breakfast in Amarillo! As soon as we walked in and saw those ash trays on the table, we knew we were in for some good old-school home-cooked food. It reminded us of our grandparents and our upbringing. Plus, they have a non-smoking section if you prefer that. The food was amazing! We tried the chicken fried steak, onion rings, and the green chili cheeseburger with bacon, and everything was delicious. Sweet Miss Judy was our waitress, and she made sure our coffee was always full and that we were well taken care of. The atmosphere was just right, with 70s and 80s country music playing in the background. Very laid back, not crowded, and the food was great! We might have been a young couple that they weren't used to seeing, but they made sure to let us know they appreciated our visit. It's getting harder to find these little cafe places with real human interaction, so we will definitely be back when we're in town! I have to give a shoutout to Joenie, the lady with the glasses. She's so respectful and does an outstanding job, especially for a 24/7 restaurant at 5:35 in the morning. I had the chicken fried steak, made in-house, and it was perfect. The gravy was excellent, and I even swapped potatoes for beans. I'm giving this place a 5 rating because 4.1 is way off. You can really feel the Route 66 history vibes here. I'm looking forward to hitting breakfast at Cattleman's Cafe more often since they serve it 24 hours a day!
Rosa's Café & Tortilla Factory
3820 I-40, Amarillo

Cody Schuller
I had a fantastic breakfast experience at Rosa's Café & Tortilla Factory in Amarillo. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our server was attentive, and the cook even came out to check on our food, which was a nice touch. I was impressed with how fresh and hot everything was. The bacon, cheese, and potato breakfast taco I ordered was delicious, even though I usually avoid eggs. The decor was appealing, and the music added to the atmosphere. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. It's a family-friendly place with lots of seating, and the ordering process is simple. The price point is great, too - I got a 3-taco plate for $9, and it was so big that I was full after just one taco! Those fluffy tortillas with honey were a tasty appetizer. Overall, I'm giving Rosa's Café a five-star review and I look forward to returning.

I had breakfast at the Black Bear Diner in Amarillo, and it was a great experience. Having visited several Black Bear Diners over the years, I was looking forward to this one, and it didn't disappoint. The service was outstanding—friendly and helpful from start to finish. The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and satisfied my morning cravings. Although my cobbler was a bit cold in the middle, it was still tasty, and the strong, good coffee made up for it. The diner itself was clean, and there was plenty of parking available, which made the visit even more convenient. It's clear that this location strives to uphold the quality Black Bear Diner is known for, and it came through during my visit. If you're in Amarillo looking for a hearty, satisfying breakfast, this Black Bear Diner is a solid choice. Four stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
