Stone house

Stone House is a fantastic spot for breakfast in Bakersfield. The food is truly exceptional, with a wonderful balance of flavors. The sweetness of the raisins in the rice perfectly complements the savory meat. The dishes are authentically Yemeni, featuring fresh ingredients like lamb, bread, and tea, all bursting with amazing flavor. The Maesaib had the perfect consistency and paired wonderfully with the red tea, which was some of the best I've had. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, providing great service throughout the meal. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already planning to return. While I found the prices a bit high, with some items over $20 and tea and Maesaib costing over $30, the quality and taste more than make up for it. We tried the lamb Hanith rice and the Fahsah, both of which were delicious. Overall, it's a place worth visiting again for its incredible food and welcoming atmosphere.

After hearing good things about Brunch N Burger, I decided to give it a try for breakfast in Bakersfield, and it was a fantastic experience. The breakfast burritos were incredible; both the chorizo and sausage options were flavorful and satisfying. The watermelon agua fresca was also a delicious and refreshing choice. The quality of the food was apparent, and I appreciated the attention to detail. Bailey, the manager, was super sweet and made us feel welcome. We even got to meet the chef, Alan, who was extremely friendly and shared some samples with us. My wife's Cajun chicken penne with sun-dried tomatoes was perfectly cooked, and my chicken pesto ciabatta was excellent. The customer service was outstanding, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. Overall, the cali burger stood out with its high-quality bacon, avocado, and smoky flavor. The pasta bowls were also impressive. This place truly lives up to its reputation, and I highly recommend giving it a try and supporting a local business.

Carri's Breakfast and Lunch is a great spot for breakfast in Bakersfield. The atmosphere is easy-going, making it a nice place to grab a quick meal or sit down and enjoy. The rice was the best I’ve had in a while, and the pork chile verde was both tasty and tender. The birria caldo was also good, and the menudo was delicious. What really stood out was the excellent customer service, especially from Luis, who made us feel welcome. Overall, it's a place I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Cafe Smitten in Bakersfield is a charming spot that really impressed me. When I arrived around 11 am on Memorial Sunday, it was almost empty, making for a peaceful start to my day. Street parking was a breeze, and there was even a parking lot available. The vibe is super chill, with a great mix of music setting the tone. I ordered a delicious coffee and a tasty breakfast item. The food presentation was beautiful, and while the food was good, it was the overall experience that stood out. There's plenty of seating, both inside and in the lovely backyard area, making it perfect for whatever mood you're in—be it catching up with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone. The staff were genuinely friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. It's clear they care about making visitors feel at home. Overall, Cafe Smitten is a delightful stopover in Bakersfield. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's worth checking out for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be going back!
Dagny's Coffee Co

Dagny's Coffee Co is an amazing spot for breakfast in Bakersfield. The vibes here are fantastic, and they always have the best music playing. It's a perfect place for students who need somewhere to study. While I'm not a fan of their iced matcha latte, as it's not ceremonial grade, I've heard everything else is excellent. Currently, I'm writing this review here because the atmosphere is so relaxed. The staff, especially the kind gentleman at the counter, are incredibly helpful and friendly. Despite a bit of a wait for coffee, the service is warm and welcoming. The mocha is delicious, and the shop is clean. Overall, Dagny's always makes me feel at home with great coffee and food.
Arizona Cafe

Arizona Cafe is my go-to spot for breakfast in Bakersfield, and in my opinion, they serve the best menudo in town. I love asking for extra hominy, and they never disappoint. The staff is always friendly and serves with a smile, which makes the experience even better. Sometimes, you might spot a well-known singer enjoying a meal here; you can see his photos on the wall as proof. There's always music playing at the perfect volume, so you can easily have a conversation. Although the area might seem a bit sketchy, I've never encountered any trouble, and I always feel safe. When you arrive, don’t let the surroundings put you off. Make sure to write your name down for a booth or table, and you’ll be seated before you know it. If you're in a hurry or prefer to sit at the bar, you can often get seated faster. The food is amazing and truly authentic Mexican style, coming out hot and delicious every time. I highly recommend trying the menudo or chile verde. The cafe is small, not located in the fanciest part of town, but it's very clean, and I always feel comfortable, even when dining alone. During my visit today, I ordered the chile relleno and a tostada with chile verde. The chile relleno was wonderful, with sauce on the side to pour on top as you like. I also enjoyed the chips and salsa. The tostada was delicious and priced just right at $6, though next time I might try it with a different meat. While the chile verde was a bit tough, it was still tasty. Overall, Arizona Cafe is an awesome spot that I can't recommend enough!
Black Bear Diner Bakersfield
4102 California Ave, Bakersfield

Jillian Roman
I had a great experience at Black Bear Diner in Bakersfield, especially during breakfast. The chicken fried steak and biscuits with gravy are fantastic and definitely worth recommending. The gravy really stood out with its rich flavor. The atmosphere is open and inviting, although it could have been a bit tidier, even outside of rush hours. The menu is a fun touch, designed like a newspaper with interesting facts, though mine was a bit worn and needed replacing. Despite that, the clever presentation adds to the charm. The service was friendly and punctual. During a dinner visit with friends, my meal came out a bit later than theirs, but the staff made up for it with an extra piece of meat, which I really appreciated. The potatoes were great, and we had a lot of fun, making the atmosphere a solid five in my book. Overall, while there are some areas for improvement, the good food and friendly service make Black Bear Diner a spot I'll definitely visit again for breakfast.
New Vintage Grill Hageman
9901 Hageman Rd #100, Bakersfield

Ricardo Chery
New Vintage Grill on Hageman is a must-visit spot in Bakersfield for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. From the moment you step inside, you'll notice the well-designed interior and inviting patio, which create a chic, farmhouse vibe that's both relaxed and stylish. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. The menu offers a great mix of classics and signature dishes, and the portions are generous. I was particularly impressed with their French Toast—definitely a standout! The nachos were a delightful surprise, served on a pizza pan, and packed with flavor. Even with three of us dining, including appetizers and drinks, the bill was surprisingly affordable. While there might be room for improvement in a few dishes, like the chicken and timing of the salad, the overall experience was positive and exceeded expectations. If you're looking for a cool place to try, give New Vintage Grill a chance. It’s worth it!
Mossman's Westchester Coffee Shop

Mossman's Westchester Coffee Shop in Bakersfield is truly a classic spot for a great breakfast. Their pancakes and french toast are absolutely the best in town. Every time I visit, I look forward to the perfectly golden, fluffy pancakes and the deliciously sweet and satisfying french toast. Even the takeout is a hit, making it super convenient when I'm craving a good breakfast at home. While there's a server who can come across as a bit terse, reminding us that she's working alone, it doesn't bother me much. It's understandable, and the food is definitely worth the wait. The nostalgic ambiance adds to the charm, making it a cozy and welcoming place to enjoy a meal. The atmosphere is warm, with a relaxed and inviting feel that makes you instantly comfortable. I've also had the pleasure of having Mossman's cater an event at the county fair, and they were fantastic. Miranda and Daniel handled everything with professionalism and a friendly attitude, ensuring that all our requests were met with a smile. The food was consistently amazing, with generous portions that everyone enjoyed. I wholeheartedly recommend Mossman's to anyone in Bakersfield, whether for a casual breakfast or a catering event. It's a reliable spot that never fails to deliver delicious meals and a pleasant experience.
Sugar Mill

Sugar Mill for breakfast in Bakersfield is truly a gem. The service is top-notch, with every employee being not just helpful, but genuinely kind and knowledgeable. The atmosphere feels just like home; it's clean and quiet, making it easy to enjoy a conversation without having to raise your voice. The menu offers a wide variety of fresh and tasty options, and the portions are perfect, especially the senior menu which I ordered from. Prices are reasonable, too – my daughter and I love going there, and two steak and eggs specials with drinks only set us back $35. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. On my last visit, I chose pork chops, and they did not disappoint. Plus, we got seated right away, though I noticed a line forming as we left. If you haven't tried Sugar Mill yet, I highly recommend it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast experience. I'll definitely be back. God bless you all! 👏🏽👍🏽😎🍔🍳🥤☕
Mango Haus

Mango Haus is truly a gem! While driving through Bakersfield, we found this spot and it did not disappoint. The restaurant has a unique charm, reminiscent of a former bed and breakfast. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were seated right away. The menu is diverse, featuring everything from red chilaquiles to vegan options and a juicy turkey burger. I opted for the red chilaquiles, and they were perfect—not too soupy, just how I like them. The vibe is bright, colorful, and welcoming, making it my go-to place for catching up with friends over mimosas or cafe de olla. The owners are delightful, with the wife going above and beyond to ensure my party of 20 had a successful event in their private area. Whether it's for a date, lunch with co-workers, or a meet-up with friends, I highly recommend this local spot. We even stayed at the nearby hotel, which was clean and pretty, complete with a nice pool and workout room. The breakfast was enjoyable, and the waiter was extremely friendly. Plus, they serve the best Cafe con Leche—absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be coming back.
Milt's Diner

Milt's Diner in Bakersfield is an absolute gem for breakfast. The food was just like I remember - so good! I enjoyed the fried chicken dinner, while my husband loved his chili size, an all-meat chili. Our grandchildren were thrilled with their "breakfast for dinner" kids' meals, which were reasonably priced between $6-8. The service was exceptional; our server was personable and extremely kind. We were impressed by how clean and well-kept the diner was, despite its location in a less-than-ideal area. Out of the four locations within a ten-mile radius, this one stands out as the owner's pride, and it's quickly become ours too. The diner is a historical landmark, cherished and maintained for generations. The quality of food and service is unbeatable. If you visit, you'll be mesmerized by the hospitality. The staff, especially Margo, will make sure you feel at home. The food is fresh and incredibly tasty, with everything prepared right on location. During our visit, Margo took great care of us, and the GM, Becca, stopped by to ensure everything was perfect. It's a place I've stumbled upon, a goldmine in the heartland. After its recent revival, Milt's has reclaimed its status as a top-tier diner. The food was excellent, and the Bloody Marys were superb. They even offered pumpkin pancakes for Halloween, making it a delightful experience. Milt's Diner is now a must for our Sunday brunch rotation. I'm looking forward to trying their homemade salsa next time.
Toasted
6603 Panama Ln #103, Bakersfield

Toasted for breakfast in Bakersfield offers such a nice brunch experience! The wait was a bit long, but it was definitely worth it. The service staff are super friendly, which makes the wait more bearable. Their menu is packed with so many tempting options that I can't wait to try more in the future. The food I did have was incredibly flavorful, and the mimosa flight was great—definitely didn't skimp on the champagne! I do wish the place was a bit bigger, but maybe that's for a future expansion. My first visit was for their Harry Potter theme, and it was delightful! We tried all the Harry Potter drinks—Butterbeer soda and Polyjuice Potion were amazing, and my daughter claimed their hot chocolate was the best ever. The Butterbeer pancakes are hands down the best pancakes I've ever had; they were bursting with flavor! Our waiter was hilarious and made the experience even more enjoyable. I really hope they do this theme every year. I've been coming here for over a year, about once or twice a month, and the chilaquiles never disappoint—they even rival authentic Mexican restaurants, and dare I say, might beat my mom's too! This restaurant really deserves all the praise it gets. From the service to the atmosphere, Toasted stands out as the best spot in Bakersfield. It truly speaks for itself, and I can't recommend it enough for breakfast!
Denny's

I dropped by Denny's in Bakersfield the other day with a friend to grab breakfast, and I was really impressed. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, the staff was outstanding. The breakfast was absolutely delicious; honestly, I could have eaten two orders if time had permitted, it was that good. I had pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a coffee. Our server was super friendly, nailed the orders, and made sure we were never without coffee. The restaurant was very clean, and even the outside was spotless. It’s always a good sign when an establishment takes care of its exterior as well. I could see myself hosting future gatherings here because of the excellent service and cleanliness. I’ve been a regular at this Denny’s for over seven years, and every visit has been great. On this occasion, our server was incredibly polite and helpful, with excellent communication skills. He even assisted us with building our own breakfast menu, which was appreciated. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a good experience. Despite being busy, our food came out quickly, and the server continuously checked in to make sure everything was perfect. It's always comforting to know you'll be treated well and enjoy a tasty meal here. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid breakfast spot.
Huckleberry's Breakfast & Lunch
2673 Mount Vernon Ave, Bakersfield
(661) 742-1514
Oli Montalvo
I'll start by saying the food is delicious! It's very home-style, American cooking. I've tried different dishes at different times, and each one has been good enough to keep me coming back. There's a chicken waffle dish that's an absolute flavor party — the balance of sweet and salty works extraordinarily well. Their food is well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. However, they're typically understaffed, and it affects the overall experience. With such high table turnover, the restaurant sometimes becomes a mess, with tables not getting bussed, dirty menus, and sticky floors. The service isn't great either; we often have to find someone to help us. The seating service was slow, the waitress service was slow, and food delivery was slow. At times, other people got their food 10 minutes before us, and ours was lukewarm. Still, the food was yummy. I noticed some sneaky charges on the itemized receipt, like an extra 75 cents for choosing red potatoes over hash browns. It would be nice to know about these charges upfront. The prices are a bit high, with an iced tea costing almost $7 and an average meal around $15. The environment could use some attention, as tables were messy with leftover food, and the restroom wasn't in the best condition. Overall, it's a good experience and the food is delicious. The restaurant seems to be doing its best, and I hope to see improvements in the near future. Despite the issues, I would eat there again. Happy eats!

Okay, to be completely honest, I was amazed by the fantastic breakfast I had at Denny's. In the past, I haven't had the best experiences at Denny's, and my friends know not to suggest it. But my recent breakfast changed everything. My family is big, with nine of us, so I have high expectations when dining out, and Denny's met them all. The staff was great, making our meal enjoyable. The food was excellent and freshly made. I had a burger that was perfectly cooked, with crispy buns and all the toppings done just right. The seasoned fries were perfectly golden and crispy. The Oreo shake was one of the best I've had in a while. I'd recommend this place to both locals and travelers. You'll be glad you visited. I also ordered food for pickup from this location. The online system was a bit frustrating as it didn't refresh automatically. I had to call the number listed online, which turned out to be a dispatch, not the actual restaurant. After being transferred, I informed them I was there for pickup. Despite some delays, the person bringing out the order was quick. The food was great, with burgers and shakes that were delicious. There was a small mistake with my wife's burger, but we didn't go back since it was late and we were tired. I'll be returning soon, hoping for a perfect order next time. I've been to other Denny's locations in Bakersfield, but the one on White Lane stands out as the best. Our server, Kloee, was attentive, seated us quickly, and answered all our questions. She kept our drinks filled, and the food was five stars, prepared and presented perfectly. If you visit the Denny's on White Lane, ask for Kloee. Everything was 5 out of 5.

This Denny's in Bakersfield truly has the edge when it comes to breakfast. Our experience was fantastic from start to finish. We had a craving for the old school fries with queso and bacon, and even though it's no longer on the menu, they delivered. Hershey, our server, was exceptional. She genuinely cares about her customers, and it shows. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor made a lasting impression. Additionally, Maria was an absolute sweetheart. Her welcoming nature and dedication to ensuring our drinks were always filled and our food was just right keep us coming back. Overall, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. Thank you, Denny's team, for a memorable breakfast.
