Stepping into Black Bear Diner in Brownsville for brunch was an instant mood lifter, thanks to its captivating decor filled with murals, carvings, vibrant colors, and of course, bears! The tuna chef’s salad caught my eye, and it didn't disappoint with its freshness and generous variety of veggies. Everything felt value for money. The staff there added to the positive experience. Friendly faces like our waiter, Eduardo, were attentive, ensuring our drinks were always topped up and that we were enjoying our meals. Another pleasant interaction was with the cashier, Tabitha, who made a point to check on our satisfaction before we left. On the food front, the breakfast choices were a hit! The offer of extra gravy at no additional cost was a pleasant surprise, especially when compared to other places that charge for extras. The eggs and bacon were just right, but the cinnamon roll French toast was the star of the morning - absolutely delicious. Despite the generally good food and service, there was a slight hiccup during a subsequent visit. The service seemed off, almost as if the roles had been mixed up, which was a bit disappointing. However, the standout moment came when faced with a less-than-satisfactory meal; the management handled the situation gracefully, offering "bear bucks" for a future visit, which was a nice touch. The pancakes and the smile they brought to my child's face did make up for some of the letdowns. All in all, Black Bear Diner in Brownsville offers a wonderful dining experience, combining excellent food with great value and a charming setting. While not every dish was a hit, the overall atmosphere and attentive service make it a place worth returning to.

First time at 911 Café #2 for brunch in Brownsville and I was immediately impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the vibrant energy of the place. It's my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last. The menu caught my attention with its variety of traditional Mexican dishes, making it hard to choose. I opted for the tampiqueña plate, while my family went for the carne guisada and caldo de res. Every dish was a hit, showcasing authentic flavors and perfectly cooked ingredients. The rice and beans were particularly noteworthy for their great sazón. I appreciated the flexibility in the menu as well, as they allowed me to swap the American enchiladas for enchiladas verdes de queso, which were exceptional. The flour tortilla, homemade right there in the café, added an authentic touch that elevated the whole meal. The menu promises and delivers on offering a taste of traditional Mexican cuisine, from chilaquiles to tortillas de harina and migas. However, the coffee didn't live up to the high standards set by the food. It seemed like the tap water used might have affected the quality of the brew, which was a bit disappointing for a coffee enthusiast like me. Good coffee is crucial to round off a meal, so this was a miss for me. It's wise to arrive early because the café quickly fills up, indicating its popularity and the locals' love for this spot. Even though the space is on the smaller side, it has a charming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our experience was pleasant from start to finish. When I mentioned an issue with stale tortilla chips in my huevos rancheros, the waitress promptly offered to replace them, which was a nice touch of customer service, although I chose not to have them replaced. All in all, 911 Café #2 is a gem in Brownsville for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine in a cozy, friendly setting. Despite the hiccup with the coffee, the quality and taste of the food, combined with the excellent service, make this café a must-visit spot for brunch.

Had an absolute blast at Letty's Café for brunch. It’s been a while since I've enjoyed Mexican food this much. The service was top-notch and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Admittedly, my Spanish isn’t the best, but they were accommodating, and there were a few folks who spoke English, which helped a ton. The vibe of the place was just right – laid back and welcoming. Diving into the food, Letty's Café didn't disappoint. The portions were generous, and I dare say, they serve the best tortillas in town. Everything tasted authentic, just like you'd hope for when craving Mexican cuisine. The restaurant itself was spotless, and the service was swift and attentive. It's definitely a spot that both locals and visitors should check out. Seeking out authentic Mexican food led me here, and the choice couldn't have been better. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, saying "yes" to everything the server suggested turned out to be the best decision. The food was fantastic. And the hospitality? Unmatched. When we mentioned we were from Hawai’i, one of the girls even joined us in a spontaneous Hula dance! The prices are unbeatable for the quality and portion sizes. To top off an already great meal, they served us some delicious banana pudding out of the blue. It's the little things like this that truly set Letty's Café apart. My choice of the chicharron en salsa plate with a side of two eggs and a huge, fluffy flour tortilla couldn't have been better. Authentic Mexican food paired with great service – what more could you ask for?

Love this place. Especially the lunch specials are something to look forward to. The menu includes caldo de res, charro beans, rice, coleslaw, fried potatoes, homemade corn tortillas, and the main entrée, beef milanesa, all complemented with a choice of tea or soda. The staff here are incredibly friendly, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere, and the menu prices are very affordable, making it a go-to spot. What really stands out are the flour and corn tortillas — they're delicious and feel authentic. Another highlight is the guayin, a local favorite that's also part of their "comida corrida." It's a dish that brings people back for more. Sadly, my latest visit didn't match the exceptional experiences I've had before. The place was overcrowded, leading to a lengthy wait before we were served. When the food finally arrived, it felt rushed and not up to their usual standards. It was disheartening to see such a decline in service and food quality, making this visit unfortunately memorable for the wrong reasons. Despite my previous positive experiences, this last visit has left me reconsidering returning.

Very good breakfast and waiting for a table didn't take long! Unfortunately, didn't snap a pic of the pancakes we ordered for the kids, but they were delicious and definitely on our list for next time. Despite being out of unsweetened tea and large flour tortillas, which was understandable given it was the day after Thanksgiving, the service was great. Prices are excellent, and specials last until closing at 2 pm. Highly recommend giving this place a try for enjoyable food. This cafe always has tamales, known for their exceptional customer service and friendly vibe. They also offer menudo at affordable prices, with accessible facilities for the handicapped. For tamale enthusiasts, their “borrachos” tamales are a must-try, large enough to satisfy two hungry people. You won't regret visiting. The food was fantastic, and the prices were reasonable. Wasn't aware of how large the tacos would be, and was pleasantly surprised. The Machacado with egg, fresco cheese, and avocado hit the spot, but the flour tortillas were the highlight of our meal. Ended up enjoying our order so much we got 5 more for the drive back home.

Had the pleasure of dining at Denny's in Brownsville for brunch and my experience was nothing short of amazing, especially because of our server, Angel. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and added a nice touch of humor to our meal. Right from the start, he ensured our orders were promptly taken and always delivered everything with a genuine smile. He consistently checked in on us to make sure we had all that we needed, elevating our dining experience with his professionalism and warm demeanor. It's worth a visit to Denny’s to enjoy the exceptional service that Angel provides. Upon returning to try something different on the menu, I encountered a few disappointments with my initial choices. However, the chicken salad I decided on later was perfectly made, leaving both my husband and me wanting to order it again for its great taste and well-made presentation. Another visit, though on a busy Father’s Day, was made memorable by our waiter, Fabrisio. Despite the overwhelming crowd, he delivered excellent service. The fresh salad with grilled chicken I ordered was to my liking, especially since it was free from salad cores, which I particularly dislike. Eating here with my boyfriend also turned out to be a fantastic experience, thanks to our server, Cindy, who recommended the Apple Crisp that exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend’s request for extra mushrooms in his ultimate omelet was gladly accommodated, and Cindy's welcoming attitude and attentive service made our meal even more enjoyable. Throughout my visits to Denny's, the positive experiences have been consistent, highlighted by great food and exceptional service, especially from servers like Samantha. V, who always greets customers with a smile and goes out of her way to provide assistance. The food has been consistently great, making me look forward to coming back for more delightful dining experiences.

The food, from the iced caramel macchiato to the waffle and chicken with sausage on the side, was exceptional. The chicken was incredibly juicy, possibly the best I've tried. Our waiter was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making our first visit here a breeze by answering all our questions about the menu. The atmosphere at Lola's Bistro is truly inviting, offering beautiful views that enhance the dining experience. It's a place I highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality meal in a great setting. The food and service were both fantastic. The pasta I had was probably the best I've ever eaten, served hot and full of flavor. It's clear that the staff is well-trained, answering any questions about the food with knowledge and enthusiasm. My experience at Lola's Bistro was definitely worth the price, characterized by the perfect balance of attentiveness and friendliness from the staff. The overall atmosphere, food, and service were awesome, making it a place I'd gladly visit again. A solid 10/10 recommendation from me. My wife and I decided to try Roosters Eatery in Brownsville for brunch, and honestly, it was a delightful experience. The food was simply amazing—everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. We started our day with their coffee, which was great, and really set the tone for the meal. The atmosphere at Roosters Eatery added to the enjoyment of our visit. It's clear that everyone, from the servers to the other patrons, enjoyed being there. The servers were very friendly and attentive, constantly checking in to make sure our needs were met. It’s rare to find such attentive service these days. Even though there were a couple of mishaps with our order, like my coffee and tortilla being cold and a delayed side order, the servers handled it with kindness and professionalism. The waffles had an unexpected churro taste, which was a surprise, but the eggs and beans were spot on. It seems like lunch might offer an even better experience, so I’m looking forward to giving that a try next time. One of the things that stood out to us was the personal touch Roosters Eatery offers. It felt more personal and welcoming compared to other places. The owner was around, greeting customers, which shows a commitment to customer service. Although the establishment closes a bit early, it’s understandable given the quality and care put into the meals. This isn't your typical fast-food spot; the wait for food is a bit longer, especially when it's busy, but it's entirely worth it for the quality you get. I was blown away by the fire service and the attentiveness of our waitress. She was incredibly efficient, clearing plates as soon as we were finished and even offered a free juice refill, which was a nice touch. The chilaquiles ribeye with fluffy scrambled eggs was the highlight of our visit—simply immaculate. It's clear Roosters Eatery is on par with top brunch spots like Terras and Morning Glory. Given the quality of food, service, and atmosphere, we're definitely planning on coming back. It feels like a hidden gem in Brownsville with something new and exciting to offer, and we can't wait to explore more of their menu.

Do yourself a favor and stop in at the Toddle Inn for an unforgettable brunch experience! Our party of four chose this place based on the inviting menu and the glowing reviews, and let me just say, our expectations were not just met; they were surpassed by miles. Right from the get-go, a friendly server welcomed us and let us pick our preferred table. Shortly after, another server, who was just as friendly and knew her stuff inside out, took charge of our table. We were eager to dive into their specialties, like the Spanish breakfast with a flour tortilla, egg sausage gordita, and spur tacos – the spur taco is a must-try, by the way! Our attentive server made sure to introduce us to their homemade hot sauce and salsa varieties, each more delicious than the last. The food arrived piping hot, fresh, and within a surprisingly reasonable timeframe. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, the second-generation owner came over and treated us to his new creation, the Churro Waffle, which was simply divine. The Toddle Inn shines as a stellar choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The kids devoured the Texas Burger and the Cowboy Plate, both giving their hearty approvals. As for myself, the Barbacoa a la Mexicana was flawless – not too greasy with a tortilla that perfectly complemented the meal. It's clear why this spot was voted the best breakfast restaurant this year. They’re always updating the menu with new items, keeping things exciting. The staff were exceptionally professional, ensuring our drinks were promptly refilled without any waiting on our part. Despite a minor disappointment with the stay fit breakfast which was unexpectedly greasy and not as fit as I hoped, the overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. We will definitely be returning to Toddle Inn for more culinary delights. It's a place where quality, service, and innovation meet, making every visit a memorable one.

We were roaming around the area and decided to give a new spot a try, and let me tell you, we were not let down at all. My husband and I could instantly agree on one thing - the place was impeccably clean, and the service was top-notch. They have a pretty good menu selection too. For brunch, I went for coffee and decided to try the barbacoa. It came with fried potatoes, refried beans, onions, cilantro, and corn tortillas. They served it with a salsa, which initially I thought might be a bit too watery for my liking, but it ended up being absolutely perfect. Freshness was a theme here, and it showed in every bite. Also, our waiter was the epitome of friendly, making our experience even better. This restaurant gives off such a cozy vibe, and the food? It’s like enjoying a meal at home if home-cooked meals were gourmet. I must rave about their salsa - it was spicy just how I love it. It's a bit rare to find a spot that can serve a salsa with the right kick, but they nailed it. And I shouldn't forget to mention their caldo, which was comforting and flavourful. In summary, this spot is a big win in my book. The portions were generous, leaving no room for any complaints. Between the great service and the delicious food, I can confidently say this place knows how to make guests feel welcome. Plus, the atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. YouTube

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and tasty New Year's Day breakfast at Denny's in Brownsville. Our server Isabel and the entire team were incredibly welcoming and skilled, making it one of the best experiences we've had at a Denny's in over three decades of visiting their locations nationwide. Despite a brief wait to be seated, the experience was well worth it. Our server, Mia, was fantastic, offering great suggestions when I was undecided and recommended the cinnamon roll pancakes, which were absolutely delicious. If you're a fan of cinnamon rolls, these pancakes are a must-try. It's also worth noting that all their meals, including this delight, can be ordered for curbside pickup. On another visit for lunch, the place was bustling, but Mia swiftly offered us a seat at the bar until a table freed up. She was attentive throughout, offering various options and ensuring we got exactly what we ordered. Her excellent service really stood out. After observing a slight dip in service and food options during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many restaurants did, this location has bounced back impressively. The menu has been revitalized, and the staff, including Evelyn, Mariela, and Edward, are incredibly motivated, friendly, and show genuine pride in their work, enhancing the dining experience significantly. Having dined here for over ten years, my wife and I witnessed the transformation of this location from cozy and friendly, through a less impressive phase, and back to being a top choice for us again. The leadership and staff's dedication to service quality is evident and makes every visit delightful. If you're considering visiting, I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed. And on the off chance that something doesn't go as planned, the team is quick to make it right. That's a promise based on years of consistent, positive experiences.

Stopping by Fina's Coffee Shop for brunch was a delightful experience. The service was impressive, quick, and efficient, even though the restaurant was bustling. The food arrived hot and clearly freshly made, a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality. While I found parking a bit challenging, it did little to dampen the overall experience. My taste buds were treated to authentic Mexican flavors that truly stood out. Although the wait time for our food extended beyond my expectations, clocking in at over 45 minutes, the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa provided a nice touch while we waited. The tortillas de harina were not only huge but delicious, and the taco de barbacoa delighted with every bite. My order of chilaquiles was satisfactory, though not as remarkable as the rest of the meal, and the portion of scrambled eggs seemed smaller than requested. Despite these minor hiccups, the value and homemade quality of the food made Fina's a noteworthy alternative to more mainstream breakfast options, offering something for everyone at a reasonable price. Parking woes aside, this is the best Mexican breakfast place I've encountered in a decade. It offers the comfort of home-cooked meals that I long for even now. It's truly a hidden gem that shines through its authentic culinary offerings. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking a genuine taste of Mexican breakfast.

Had an absolutely delightful brunch experience at 9-11-Cafe in Brownsville, where the chilaquiles were just perfect! Deciding on one of their platters, it was served up quickly, allowing for a seamless dining experience. The ambiance caught my attention too, calm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a Sunday morning meal with my family. Not to mention, the authentic sauce added just the right touch to the meal, scoring a solid 10/10 in my book. The menu offerings didn't disappoint, with the salsa and the overall meal hitting all the right notes of deliciousness. Opting for the eggs special while my wife enjoyed the chilaquiles, every bite confirmed we'd made the right choice. There's no doubt we'll be making a return visit. The added bonus? The total came to about thirty bucks for two plates, two drinks, and a biscuit, which felt like a steal for the quality and quantity provided. Comparing it to some of the more hyped spots, this cafe stands out for its lack of pretense, offering great food, exceptional service, and a manager who clearly takes pride in ensuring guests have a wonderful time. With the prices being so reasonable, it's a place that doesn't hit your wallet hard but still delivers on quality. Observations from a previous visit in March 2022 noted minor issues with seasoning and presentation, but it’s clear improvements have been made since then. The restaurant's appearance has been upgraded impressively, from the ceiling to the covered A/C units, giving it a sleek, city vibe. Pricing remains reasonable, varying based on what you order, and while the service is polite, you might need to catch their attention for additional needs. Initially, my advice for visiting this place included checking the food thoroughly upon arrival, as there were occasional lapses in the past. However, it’s evident that 9-11-Cafe has taken feedback seriously and stepped up their game tremendously. Encouraging others to give this spot a try, it's a testament that every restaurant deserves a chance to shine. The improvements are noticeable, and my latest experience was nothing short of satisfying. Good food, good prices, and an overall vibe that makes you want to return – that's what stands out about 9-11-Cafe.

My all-time favorite dish here is the chilaquiles con carne deshebrada en salsa verde! Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The handmade tortillas de masa are a standout for me — I even like to add a bit of butter for that extra richness. On my first visit, it was decent enough to make me want to return and give it another chance. The food was flavorful, although the tea was a tad too strong for my liking. Fast forward to my most recent visit on 8/3/22, and I'm happy to report a fantastic experience. The authentic Mexican cuisine really shines through, accompanied by friendly service and those small, special touches that make a meal memorable. With fair prices to boot, this place comes highly recommended. The only slight downside? The carne deshebrada was a bit sparse in proportion to the large tortillas served. Despite that, the overall taste and quality of the food left a lasting, positive impression.

The menu caught my attention with its fascinating blend of classic breakfast options like the delightful French toast and more unique dishes such as chilaquiles with carnitas, a true nod to traditional Mexican home-style cooking that tastes fantastic. This variety is precisely why I adore this place. Let's not forget the mimosas - a perfect and polite brunch choice (and quite the hangover cure, if I may add) alongside their delicious coffee selection. Whether it's an Americano, cappuccino, or latte, each choice is as delectable as the next. I'm already planning my next visit to Morning Glory. If you find yourself in Brownsville, you owe it to yourself to check it out. The food isn't just good; it's beautifully prepared. Even something as simple as a side of avocado was presented with care. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. And while the dishes I tried were great, I couldn't help but eye the other orders around me - everything looked amazing! Morning Glory has truly become a staple in downtown Brownsville's burgeoning foodie scene. Its charming ambiance screams brunch with friends. Despite a slight hiccup with the chilaquiles being a touch cold and less spicy than preferred, and my husband finding his chicken and waffles a tad dry, the overall experience was positive. The mimosa I had was strong and hit the spot perfectly. Be prepared for a bustling atmosphere, especially with groups enjoying their champagne, but it's all part of the vibe. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you're paying for quality and a wonderful experience. I'm looking forward to coming back, maybe next time with the girls for another round of those strong mimosas. The warm, lively environment and the staff's cheerful disposition in their striped shirts just add to the inviting atmosphere of Morning Glory. It's a place that beckons for return visits.

The service we received was top-notch; the staff was great and attentive, making sure our dining experience was smooth and pleasant. Despite the restaurant being busy, the waiting time was surprisingly short – a pleasant surprise indeed. This place is an excellent spot for anyone craving PAN DULCE, a must-visit Mom n Pops restaurant. Despite the crowd, waiting for a table is totally worth it. I found the prices to be fair, especially considering the quality of the food, which is definitely above what you'd expect for the price range in the area. The dessert pastries are simply irresistible, whether you're dining in or taking out. Their Leche con Cafe is a standout item that coffee lovers should try. The Cafe lechero, with its adjustable strength, was a highlight for me, offering a delightful presentation that's worth capturing on video. The Desayuno Cuatro Estaciones was flavorful, and the Bocoles Surtidos brought back cherished memories of Mexico for my husband. Although the Quesibirria tacos could use a bit more flavor, their crunchiness more than made up for it. The restaurant is cozy and clean, including the restrooms, which is always a plus. We visited for Friday brunch, and even though there was a bit of a wait, it wasn't too long or disappointing, proving to be worth the short wait. The restaurant does get busy, so we had to remind our waitress once when we were ready to check out, but overall, the waitstaff was wonderful and pleasant. While the dining room layout is a bit compact and doesn't make much sense, it's a small inconvenience compared to the quality of food and service. It's also noteworthy that the food remains uniquely its own, differing from the original restaurant in Tampico, yet still maintains high quality. In summary, if you're looking for a cozy spot with delicious food, great service, and fair prices, Super Cream is the place to go. Whether it's for takeout or dine-in, their offerings, especially the dessert pastries and the Leche con Cafe, are not to be missed.

The portions were generous, and the food arrived swiftly, cooked to perfection. It was my first visit, but it certainly won't be my last. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delightful brunch experience. On another occasion, I brought my Mom along for breakfast. The staff was as friendly as ever, ensuring we felt welcome and looked after. While my Mom enjoyed her pancakes, I indulged in bacon and eggs, both of which were scrumptious. We're already planning our next visit. Having visited Abel's Cafe a total of five times, the first couple of visits left me thoroughly impressed with both food and service. However, I noticed a slight dip in service quality during my subsequent visits, with longer wait times and some inconsistencies in food preparation. Despite these few hiccups, the staff remained friendly, a trait that didn't go unnoticed. On one visit, I decided to try the special of the day, Asado de Puerco, which boasted an authentic flavor, though, it was a tad dry and on the saltier side for my taste. The accompanying rice seemed slightly undercooked, which was a bit of a letdown. Yet, the service remained fast and friendly, reflecting reasonable prices for their offerings. Given these experiences, it's clear there's room for improvement, especially in ensuring consistency in both service and food quality. Nevertheless, Abel's Cafe has shown potential, and given its fairly new status, I believe there's ample opportunity for growth and refinement. I remain hopeful and am willing to give this charming cafe another try, as its highs have certainly made it a worthy contender in the brunch scene of Brownsville.

The rice and beans complemented the mains beautifully, adding that home-cooked feel to the meal. Although the spaghetti was slightly off for my taste, it didn't take away from the overall satisfaction of the meal. One aspect I truly appreciated was the transparency in pricing. It's important to ask about prices if you're unsure, as they're very upfront and clear about costs, which avoids any unexpected surprises when the bill arrives. In summary, Karolina's Restaurant is a gem in Brownsville for anyone looking for a hearty brunch in a friendly atmosphere. The combination of delicious food, great service, and a welcoming environment makes it a must-visit spot. Whether you're a local or just passing through, don't miss out on the chance to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
