Island Joe’s Coffee and Gallery has become our go-to breakfast spot whenever we’re in Corpus Christi. The shop is super cute and built out of shipping containers, which makes it spacious and unique. The staff is incredibly nice, and they offer a fun range of seasonal drinks made with homemade syrups, along with a wide variety of teas. One of my favorite things to order is the cucumber toast, which is absolutely delicious! I also enjoyed a dirty chai latte, an iced coffee, and a cinnamon roll during our visit. The dirty chai was superb, and the cinnamon roll was devilishly amazing, with actual cream cheese icing and served at just the right temperature. If you’re short on time, going inside might be quicker than the drive-thru, which tends to take a while. The atmosphere is vibrant, with people working and chatting. Our order was prepared quickly, and the coffee was excellent. The sea turtle drink was unique and tasty too. Island Joe’s is definitely a 10/10 spot, perfect for skipping a hotel breakfast. If you’re in the area, it’s a must-visit place for great coffee and treats. You won’t miss it, thanks to its distinctive shipping container design.

Taqueria Chapala is a fantastic spot for breakfast in Corpus Christi, offering solid food at great prices. Keep in mind that it's drive-through or to-go only, with no inside dining available. There's an outdoor area with picnic benches if you choose to eat there, but be prepared for the summer heat. The staff is incredibly friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The barbacoa and lengua tacos were amazing—loaded with meat and absolutely delicious. The tres leches cake was a standout, easily one of the best I've ever had. We devoured the food so quickly that there was no time for pictures! I also tried the Taquitos Mexicanos with frijoles charros, which were authentic, simple, and delicious. Most people opt for the drive-thru, but if you eat outside on the picnic tables, you'll find the service to be fast and friendly. It's become my go-to spot for a quick meal with friends. It's close to campus, affordable, and always delivers with great service and tasty food.

If you're in the mood for mouthwatering, fresh-baked goodness, Gates Donut Shop in Corpus Christi is where you need to be. This family-owned spot knows donuts and kolaches like no other, and it's a must-visit for anyone who loves a sweet breakfast. From the moment you walk in, the warm aroma of freshly baked donuts welcomes you. The variety is impressive, catering to all tastes. Whether you crave classic glazed, filled varieties, or something more adventurous, Gates Donut Shop delivers. Each donut is soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. And it's not just about donuts. The kolaches are just as fantastic, with a balance of fluffy pastry and delicious filling. My favorite is the sausage and cheese—it’s pure comfort food that makes you feel at home. What really sets Gates apart is the love and care in every product. Being a family-owned business, quality is clearly a priority. The staff is friendly and always ready to help you pick the best treats. Gates Donut Shop is a local treasure. It offers fresh, delicious options that keep me coming back. The maple bacon donut might sound odd, but it’s amazing. Customer service is great too. Being from McAllen, this place reminds me of Shipley's. All the donuts are fantastic. The kolaches are incredibly soft, though I prefer the sausage a bit more cooked. Since 2009, I've been visiting, and the quality remains top-notch. The earlier you go, the better, and I used to be first in line every morning. This place is truly a gem.
La Mexicana Bakery and Tortilla Factory

At La Mexicana Bakery and Tortilla Factory, I always feel like I'm getting a great deal. Unlike other places where sweets and donuts cost too much, everything here is both affordable and delicious. The selection of pan dulces is fantastic, and each one is a treat. The homemade tacos are simply amazing. It's refreshing to find a spot that feels like it's still in the good old days. This bakery is not only cute but incredibly welcoming. I love that for around $40, I can leave with two boxes full of goodies. And if I ever want something fresh, they are more than happy to make it for me on the spot. The ladies working here are always so kind and patient, which is such a nice touch. I visit twice a week to fill up boxes for my family and friends, especially those who work at the refinery. Everyone loves the fresh tortillas and bakery items. This place holds a special spot in my heart.
Stingers Coffee

Stingers Coffee is hands down the best coffee spot in Corpus Christi! Their frozen coffees are incredibly smooth, perfectly blended with no ice chips. I'm also a big fan of their blueberry muffins—they're delicious! I love that the baristas have the freedom to create their own drinks; they're always fun and creative. I've been to Stingers twice now, and I can say the overall experience has been good. On my first visit, I tried their hot coffees along with blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, which were warmed up to perfection. They were so good! The service was great, and the drinks hit the spot. There's limited space inside, so visiting during non-peak hours is ideal, but there are extra seats outside if that's your preference. The outside area could use some tidying up, but it's not a deal-breaker. I'm definitely planning to return—thank you, Stingers Coffee! 😋
Thai Cottage Corpus Christi

Thai Cottage in Corpus Christi is a fantastic spot for a meal. I enjoyed the lunch special, and it was perfectly portioned and delicious. The salad with peanut sauce is amazing and a must-try. I had the Chili Basil with rice, which was flavorful, but I think I might try the fried rice version next time. The Pad Thai is consistently good, as always. If you're into spicy food, I suggest ordering a spice level of 3+ because the 2 didn't have much kick. The Yellow Curry is also very tasty, and I recommend trying it all! The service was friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I also had the Thai iced tea, which was delicious. For our meal, I chose the vegetarian Pad Thai, while my husband ordered the garlic & pepper with chicken. We both opted for the salad, with me choosing the vinaigrette dressing and him the peanut dressing—both were excellent and reminded us of our time in Thailand. This is a great Thai place with plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options, along with good lunch specials. The service is super fast, and the side salad is delightful. It's an excellent little restaurant serving great food, with an ambiance made friendly by attentive and welcoming staff. The curry and soups are delicious, and it's great to see they offer imported Thai beer. For the quality of food, the prices here are quite reasonable.
El Jalisco Grill

Mariko Maury
The food at El Jalisco Grill for breakfast in Corpus Christi is fantastic, and the service is consistently top-notch. I've tried several dishes, and each one has been delicious. The enchiladas plate is a standout, especially the gravy—it's unique compared to what other Tex-Mex places offer. If you're looking for great Tex-Mex in Corpus Christi, this spot is definitely worth a visit! The food is always hot and perfectly cooked, with portions that are generous for the price. The staff is very pleasant, and the Supreme nachos were delicious, with enough to fill up both of us. The steak is the winner on everything, and the shrimp is also exceptional. You'll likely leave with leftovers, as the fajita plate was enormous. Every time we visit Corpus, we'll be dining here again. It’s truly a great Mexican restaurant. I had their Fajita beef and chicken burrito with queso on top, and it was definitely big enough to share. The queso comes with a "spicy" warning, but if you can handle a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, you're good to go. Overall, very good food and friendly staff.
Boardwalk Cafe & BBQ

I absolutely love Boardwalk Cafe & BBQ for breakfast in Corpus Christi! The food is fantastic. The brisket was incredibly tender, and the sausage, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and carrot beans were all delicious. The blackened chicken sandwich was a standout. The portions are generous, and everything tastes like good homemade cooking. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, and it really feels like visiting old friends. The decorations add to the welcoming vibe. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the owners are always making sure everyone is well taken care of—truly some of the nicest people around. I had the King Ranch chicken with rice and charro beans, and it was absolutely out of this world. It reminded me of eating at Grandma’s when I was a kid. The pies looked amazing, with over eight kinds, so I'll definitely leave room for dessert next time. The service here is the best I’ve experienced in Corpus, and the girl who helps out is really sweet and helpful. This place is a gem and open till 8 PM Monday through Friday. Taking your family here for a treat is something you won’t regret. I can’t recommend it enough! 😊
Taqueria Almeida #3

Best tacos in Corpus Christi! The homemade soft flour tortillas at Taqueria Almeida #3 are unbeatable. I've been coming here for years and have always been met with friendly staff. For the quality of food, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Whether I call in or dine in, I couldn’t ask for a better breakfast or lunch spot. The orders are very customizable, allowing me to try all sorts of delicious combinations. It's easy to miss this gem, tucked away in a strip shopping center with other businesses. However, those in the know around here make it a regular stop because the food is both fantastic and affordable. The variety of breakfast tacos, ranging from $2.50 to $3.50, is impressive. Some specialty items like the Brisket tacos are a bit more but worth every penny. I can't get enough of the trash can taco and the machacado ala Mexicana taco. It's tough to get machacado right, but they nail it. The flavors in the trash can taco are exceptional. This place is now my go-to in Corpus Christi. The service has always been great, with staff who are consistently friendly. I keep returning to this spot, one of the few Mexican restaurants in Flour Bluff that I frequent. The enchiladas are outstanding, and the tortillas are amazing. Plus, the salsa container to go is a must-have.
Town And Country Cafe

Town and Country Cafe is an excellent spot for breakfast in Corpus Christi. The place is very clean, and while it's extremely busy, I found that to be a great sign of its popularity. As soon as people left, tables were immediately cleaned, which impressed me. Our server was quick and attentive, ensuring we never waited long for anything. We ordered the Big Country Breakfast, a 1/2 Silver Dollar, and a Town and Country. Every plate was delicious and explained why they're always packed. For three people, $50 was reasonable, especially considering we added coffee and two sides to our order. This old-school style restaurant has a basic but satisfying breakfast menu. The service was excellent, just as expected, and the food was more than okay for the price. While the menu isn't over-the-top, it offers a solid breakfast option that could please anyone. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, perfect for a relaxing brunch. The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs cooked perfectly, and the chicken soup was amazing. I also tried the chicken fried chicken, which was delicious and served hot. It was my first time experiencing a true diner vibe in Corpus Christi, making it a memorable visit. The staff was very kind, and overall, it's a decent place to enjoy breakfast or brunch. I'll definitely be back, either with family or for a nice solo lunch.
Chapala Grill Mexican Restaurant

I had breakfast at Chapala Grill Mexican Restaurant in Corpus Christi, and I have to say, it was a great experience. I ordered #58, a fish and shrimp dish, and it was perfectly cooked and flavored—I'm really impressed. My friend tried the mini beef taco plate, which was just as delicious. The service was fast, and the waiters were friendly and efficient. While there was a discrepancy between the website prices and the menu prices at the restaurant, with the menu being slightly higher, updating the website would solve this minor issue. Despite that, the food and service were excellent, making Chapala our family's favorite breakfast spot. The Crispy Taco and Combination Plates are my go-to dishes, and they never disappoint. Plus, they've got the best Tripa Tacos around! The portions are fair for the price, so there's good value here. Remember to tip and respect the servers—they do a fantastic job.

I always love starting my day at Acapulco #1 when I'm in Corpus Christi. As soon as I walk up to the place, the wonderful aroma invites me inside. The moment I sit down, I'm greeted with homemade chips and salsa that set the tone for a great meal. Their horchata is creamy and delicious, probably the best I’ve had in a while. For breakfast, I usually go for the taco plate with shrimp and fish, which never fails to impress with its flavor. My husband swears by their chicken fajitas, claiming they’re always delicious. The tortillas are thick, leaving a bit of flour on your hands—a sign of their authenticity and freshness. The menu offers plenty of options, making it hard to choose just one thing. The staff is consistently friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Although parking can be limited, the food and service more than make up for it. I’ve never left disappointed and always consider this spot a must-visit whenever I'm in Corpus Christi.
El Potro Restaurant

Pedro Smath
I was excited to visit El Potro Restaurant for breakfast, and it certainly lived up to the positive reviews. The friendly staff made me feel welcome right away. The horchata was the standout—creamy and delicious, easily the best I've had outside of Mexico. I ordered the grilled shrimp plate, which was very good and came in generous portions. My partner tried the carne guisada and cheese enchilada plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though there were a few missteps with some dishes not quite hitting the traditional mark, the overall experience was positive. The birria ramen special was a fantastic surprise, full of flavor, and I hope it becomes a regular feature. The salsa with the chips had just the right spicy kick, and the tea was fresh and refreshing. What really makes El Potro shine is the atmosphere and the consistent service. Even after moving across town, we make it a point to return because the experience is worth the drive. The staff is attentive but not overbearing, allowing you to focus on the food. It’s a great spot for enjoying some authentic and delicious Mexican food.
Taqueria Almeida #1

Mario Mohammed
During my breakfast visit to Taqueria Almeida #1 in Corpus Christi, I had a great experience with their tacos. I highly recommend ordering the steak taco all the way and adding an egg. It might be on the pricier side, but the quality is worth it. The handmade flour tortillas are fantastic, and the full strips of thick, crispy bacon in the bacon and egg taco were full of flavor. The bean, cheese, and bacon combo is another winner. The watermelon Agua Fresca was refreshing and complemented the tacos perfectly. The atmosphere of the place feels reminiscent of a beachfront store, with screen walls and signs encouraging a friendly vibe. We avoided any arguments, just as the signs suggest! While the food was delicious, it's important to note that service can be a bit slow, so make sure you have some time to spare. I waited quite a bit for my order, but the staff was friendly and attentive when I mentioned I was in a hurry. Overall, despite a minor hiccup with the order, the tacos and ambiance made it a worthwhile visit.
Corner Bakery Cafe

Patricia Branch
Trying Corner Bakery Cafe for breakfast in Corpus Christi was a delightful experience. It was my first visit, and I instantly loved the BLT. The salad was fresh and satisfying. The woman at the counter was friendly and welcoming, adding to the warm atmosphere. Although it was busy during lunch, there were plenty of tables available, and I appreciated having the food brought directly to my table. Corner Bakery is an excellent choice for travelers wanting a step up from fast food. While this location could use a bit of TLC and updates, it's still a solid option in CC. It's a nice spot for brunch with a menu full of vibrant, guilt-free food choices. The coffee was excellent, and the pumpkin muffins were fantastic. The service was consistently friendly. I tried the power & grains bowl with chicken and a half chicken pomodori, both of which were delicious. The portions were generous—I even shared half of my sandwich with my husband, who also enjoyed his chicken pomodori.

Maria Mind Ur Bizniss
La Palma Mexican Restaurant #2 in Corpus Christi is my go-to spot for authentic Mexican breakfast without having to cross the border. The queso here is unbeatable – a perfectly blended mix of white Mexican cheese, peppers, green sauce, and a kick of juice. Their fresh, hot, salty chips are a crunch of greatness that you just can't resist. The service is fast and professional, always with a welcoming smile. Plus, the convenience of a drive-thru for quick pickups is a huge bonus. The place is clean, vibrant, and simply outstanding. This is a must-try spot if you're in the area. Their carne guisada and tortillas are to die for, and honestly, everything I've tried has been spot on! My family of six always feels right at home here. Even my kids loved the chicken nuggets, and my son couldn't get enough of his cheese enchiladas. La Palma isn’t just about great food; the atmosphere and service are top-notch too. Our waitress was fantastic and incredibly helpful. The prices are reasonable, which makes it even better. Make sure to ring the bell on your way out to show appreciation for their five-star service. This small restaurant delivers big on taste and hospitality, and it’s always a pleasure to dine here.

La Isla in Corpus Christi is a fantastic spot for breakfast. Their food is excellent and fresh, capturing authentic Mexican flavors that can be hard to find. The service is fast and friendly, ensuring a pleasant experience from start to finish. I was impressed with their queso and the variety they offer, including aguas frescas. My husband enjoyed the carne asada plate with fresh handmade corn tortillas, while I found the Mexican taquitos incredibly filling. The prices are very reasonable, making it a great value. The authenticity of their food sets them apart from many other Mexican restaurants, which often taste fake. After dining here for dinner on Friday, we couldn't resist coming back for breakfast on Saturday. The fluffy flour tortillas and well-seasoned, tender meat were highlights for me. I tried the beef milanesa, chilaquiles, and a bacon & egg taco—all were delicious. The green salsa added a nice kick to the meal. Their menu offers a variety of flavorful options like the taco plate and green enchiladas. I loved the generous side of sour cream, and their spicy queso and salsa were delightful for spicy food fans. With large portions on tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, you get good value for your money. The service was attentive and quick, and while the atmosphere isn’t anything special, the food definitely makes up for it. If you're visiting Corpus Christi, you should give La Isla a try. Happy hour features $2.25 house margaritas from 3pm-6pm, which is a nice bonus!
Donut Palace
1602 Compass St A, Corpus Christi

Enny Hamitch
I can't recommend Donut Palace for breakfast in Corpus Christi. Our visit was underwhelming, and it's unlikely we'll return. Neither my husband nor I enjoyed the pastries, and the atmosphere wasn't welcoming. The staff seemed irritated as we ordered, rushing us, which isn't ideal for first-time visitors. Despite being busy, their popularity baffled me after our experience. The éclair I tried contained an unpleasant, gooey surprise in the center, making it very unappetizing. The pastry cream wasn't right, and it was enough to make us discard the rest of our order. Additionally, the pastries and kolaches had an unusual taste that didn't align with our expectations. With years of baking experience and numerous bakery visits under my belt, I can confidently say something was off. The customer service was disappointing. The woman serving us was unfriendly, snapping "AND" after each order, despite me being the only customer. It reminded me of the brisk attitude you'd expect in New York, not Texas. To add to the frustration, the jelly donut I got was devoid of jelly, just air. The coffee was decent, but not something you couldn't find elsewhere, like at Stripes around the corner. While they offer a variety of items, including donuts and donut holes, my grandchildren might enjoy the latter, but they're not for me. At least a dozen donut holes and Nesquick are just five dollars. Still, it's not enough to draw me back when customer service and quality need significant improvement.

During my visit to Whataburger for breakfast in Corpus Christi, I had an overall exceptional experience. From the moment I approached the counter, Rhys B stood out with his genuine smile and warm welcome. His friendly demeanor immediately put me at ease, and his knowledge about the menu was impressive. He patiently answered all my questions and helped me pick the best options for my picky toddler. Despite the busy breakfast rush, Rhys managed the orders efficiently and ensured everything was accurate, accommodating my special requests with great care. Additionally, the young man working the drive-thru, Chris, was an absolute pleasure to interact with. His positive attitude and excellent service made a lasting impression. My order was spot-on, even though I ended up with a double instead of a #1. The food was hot and fresh, which added to the enjoyable experience. Even during the lunch rush, the service was quick, and the staff remained friendly and polite. This trip was exactly what we needed, and Whataburger continues to impress with its excellent lunch choices. You can never go wrong with a visit there!
The Cheesecake Factory

Maribel Alva
My experience at The Cheesecake Factory in Corpus Christi was mixed. The ambiance was initially comforting, but it quickly felt like an icebox. Despite asking multiple times, the temperature only changed after the manager, who came off as rude, turned off the ceiling fans. The food arrived cold, with pasta that was hard and chicken tasting like rubber. I decided not to complain about the food to avoid any issues. The cheesecake was decent, but for $170, I wish we had gone somewhere else. On a positive note, the Shrimp Scampi was delicious with perfectly cooked shrimp, though it had a strong garlic flavor. The Chicken Madeira and sides were flavorful, and the romantic ambiance was pleasant. Despite being cold inside, the atmosphere was nice enough to bring a jacket next time. Our waitress, Niki, was exceptional, and the chicken salad was superb. I treated myself to the Adams Reese's peanut butter cheesecake, which was incredibly delicious. However, the location has consistent issues, like slow service and overly salty dishes, especially the 4-cheese pasta. When picking up take-out, my order was almost given to a DoorDash driver, and it was too salty again. Overall, it's a hit or miss, with room for improvement.
