Crocker's Cafe & Bakery in Costa Mesa is just the cutest little spot with a lovely array of plants and flowers creating a charming atmosphere. The food is simply delicious, and the pastries are mouthwatering. The staff really stood out for their outstanding service; the lady who took our order was sweet and incredibly helpful. I absolutely loved the biscuits and gravy, especially the traditional way they serve it with eggs on top. It was so good, I cleaned the entire plate. My wife’s croissant with big, fresh pieces of ham was fantastic too. We were thrilled by the thoughtful gesture of receiving a complimentary cinnamon roll after they learned it was our first time there—a truly sweet touch! The cafe has a lovely setting, with the plants providing a cozy feel away from the nearby street. We initially stopped by for lunch on a whim, but we’re so glad we did. The place is filled with the aroma of buttery pastries, and the staff makes you feel right at home. For lunch, I tried the BLT + avocado sandwich, and it was amazing. Served on toasted sourdough, the bacon was thick and chewy, and the avocado slices were fresh. It was quite generous in size, more like two sandwiches in one, and came with a tasty pickle spear and potato salad. Definitely a 5/5 stars experience and highly recommend a visit. The back garden area is perfect, especially if you’re visiting with kids. We were a group of three adults and three toddlers, and the enclosed space made it enjoyable for everyone. Highlights were the mimosa, breakfast burrito, and the peanut butter & chocolate bar. We’ll be back for sure!

Board & Brew - Costa Mesa

I've been to Board & Brew in Costa Mesa twice now, and I have to say, it's become a favorite spot for me. On my second visit after five months, I tried the Italian sub, which was really good. What stood out even more was their beer selection—16oz pours for $4 or $5. That's a fantastic deal in Orange County! On my first trip, I was blown away by the service. Candice A was incredibly helpful, answering all my first-timer questions with a friendly attitude that made the visit even more enjoyable. I ordered the Left Coast Pastrami with their secret sauce. The bread was just right, and the pastrami was perfectly warmed and delicious. Sitting at the bar was a great choice, thanks to Ricky’s excellent service. With 12 beers and seltzers on tap, plus another 10 canned options, there's plenty to choose from. They have TVs throughout, showing games, and I bet they'd put on whatever you want to watch if you asked. The sandwiches here are stellar, loaded with meat and great sauces. While parking can be a bit tight between them and Starbucks, it's worth it. The Baja Beef sandwich exceeded my expectations with its crispy bouquet and well-seasoned meat. Overall, the staff is friendly, service is top-notch, and I’m looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu. Whether you're a beer lover or a sandwich enthusiast, this place is worth checking out!

We've been coming to Side Street Cafe for over 20 years, and it never disappoints. It's amazing to see the number of regulars who frequent this place—it really speaks to its charm and consistency. I ordered the stuffed French toast and an egg scramble with toast, and, as always, both were delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit a pleasure. It's always busy here, so planning your time is wise, but it's absolutely worth it. Over the decades, I've been here more than 100 times and have never had a bad meal. The service is consistently stellar, and the variety on the menu is impressive. Whether you're in the mood for the healthy Harley special or the indulgent cream-stuffed French toast, every dish is satisfying. The low-key atmosphere and excellent service make it a favorite spot. I genuinely love this place and highly recommend it!

I visited Portola Coffee Roasters in Costa Mesa for breakfast and had a wonderful experience. The menu is a paradise for coffee enthusiasts, offering a diverse array of options to satisfy any taste. Whether you're into classic espresso drinks like cappuccinos and lattes or prefer pour-over and cold brew selections, you'll find something you love. What distinguishes Portola is their commitment to sourcing premium beans from around the globe and roasting them in-house to perfection. Every cup reflects their dedication and expertise. The real star of the show is the coffee. I ordered an iced latte and was impressed by its unique flavors and smooth texture. The barista crafted an iced latte that was both bold and balanced, with a depth of flavor that I haven't tasted in other coffee shops. First time here and wanted to check out breakfast at Dick Church's Restaurant in Costa Mesa. It’s a cool little spot with plenty of parking, making it super convenient. I ordered the corned beef hash, homemade biscuit, and hash browns. The corned beef hash was cooked perfectly—not canned—and absolutely delicious. Crystal, our server, was very friendly and recommended some great dishes. My son’s country breakfast was freshly made and also hit the spot. The service was friendly and attentive, and the coffee was just right. The atmosphere is a refreshing change from the usual spots, with a mix of locals enjoying their morning at the counter. This might just be the best breakfast joint between LA and San Diego. All around a fantastic place with kind and welcoming service. I've found my go-to breakfast spot in the Costa Mesa/Newport area!

I finally visited Pancakes R Us in Costa Mesa and I couldn't be happier! The atmosphere is a perfect blend of classic American style with unique design touches. The food was incredibly fluffy and healthy. My omelette was perfect, and everything tasted great. The fruit was unbelievably fresh, as if it had just been picked. This is our go-to spot for several reasons. First, my wife has celiac disease, and their gluten-free pancakes, along with the careful handling by the cooks, make it perfect for us. Second, the food is consistently excellent. They answer all questions and accommodate special requests. Third, the staff is incredibly friendly, remembering us even when we don’t visit often. If you're considering eating here, just do it! It's an upscale pancake house at a reasonable price. The owner has run this place consistently for years. This was my first visit since they moved to 17th Street, and the fast, friendly service and quality food make it a great breakfast spot, especially after a night out. My country fried steak and eggs cured my hangover for under $20. The service was quick, and the food was superb. It's a must-visit place! The staff was on time, friendly, and knew how to take care of customers. I'll definitely return when in the area again.
Toast Kitchen & Bakery

Toast Kitchen & Bakery in Costa Mesa is an excellent spot for lunch. I tried the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, which was outstanding. The chicken was perfectly crispy without being oily, and the crispy tots made a great side. The beer on tap is a win, with good options available. I enjoyed both the hazy and the lager. The service stood out despite a couple of hiccups. Our server was efficient and handled a wrong drink order by fixing it herself, and the staff was quick to apologize and rectify an issue with a missing sandwich order by comping it and giving us a pie. Their willingness to make things right made the experience enjoyable. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated, though it felt more suited for lunch than breakfast or dinner. While the atmosphere wasn't as cozy as expected, the quality of the food made up for it. Overall, Toast Kitchen & Bakery is a great place for lunch, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Craving a real burger and tired of fast food, I discovered Kenwood's Kitchen & Tap in Costa Mesa, and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and provided outstanding service. We kicked things off with the Brussels sprouts, which were delicious; I'm usually not into pecans, but they added a nice touch. The burger and fries satisfied all my cravings—cooked perfectly, juicy, and full of flavor. My partner opted for the avocado BLT and loved every bite of it. We’re from Canada and this was our first dine-in experience here in California, making it even more special. I only wish I had more time in California to explore more of their menu. The tater tots were unbelievably crispy, perhaps double-fried, and the mushroom burger was tasty—though it comes only medium-cooked. We celebrated a friend's birthday, and the staff, especially Calem, was attentive, even bringing out some ice cream for the occasion. The portions were generous, the drinks were on point, and there were plenty of TVs for watching football. Even on a busy weekend, there was ample parking and seating. Although our experience at the bar had some hiccups with order mix-ups and slow refills, the food and atmosphere more than made up for it. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area!

Plums Cafe in Costa Mesa is a fantastic spot for brunch, and I find myself going back again and again whenever I'm in Orange County. The atmosphere is vibrant, with both indoor and outdoor seating that creates a welcoming vibe. The menu offers a great variety of options, catering to all tastes. I've dined there three times during a short visit, and the biscuit gravy is a standout dish for me—absolutely delicious. The service has always been solid during my visits, complementing the tasty food perfectly. While the smoked salmon hash and the Santa Fe eggs benedict weren't my favorites, the waffle with berries was excellent, and the mimosas hit the mark every time. For anyone visiting, I highly recommend sticking to their batter items like the dutch baby, waffles, and french toast. They're definitely worth it. Plums Cafe has become a must-visit on my list each time I'm in the area. If you're looking for a reliable brunch spot in OC, this is the place.

My visit to Memphis Cafe for breakfast in Costa Mesa was a fantastic experience! We started with the amazing deviled eggs, and from there, the breakfast just got better. The portions were reasonably priced, and we enjoyed our meal on the patio with our dog. The staff was welcoming and friendly, from confirming the patio was dog-friendly to our checkout. We craved a hearty breakfast and tried the Southern Benedict and the two-egg breakfast, both of which did not disappoint. Their local cold brew was a great addition to the meal. Service was efficient, with frequent check-ins and drink refills. We'll definitely return—lunch and dinner are calling our names! We found Memphis Cafe while searching for breakfast spots nearby and were happy to discover that there wasn't a wait. The indoor area is cozy but a bit loud, while the outdoor space is slightly larger and perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The food was delicious, and the drinks were a mixed bag; while the mimosas were tasty, the bloody Mary and Moscow mule weren't my favorites. As for the food, it was a feast! We had chicken and waffles, Southern eggs benedict, chorizo benedict, green chilaquiles, berry French toast, pancakes, and a side of potatoes. Everyone loved their meals. The crab cakes were flavorful with a crispy exterior, and the sauce complemented them perfectly. The shrimp and grits stood out with their green chilis adding a pop of flavor and spice, and the barbecue shrimp was an interesting but successful twist. Though the restaurant isn't large, there is bar seating and an outdoor patio. Our waitress was attentive and kind, making the experience even better. I'm eager to come back and explore more of their mouth-watering menu options. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Memphis Cafe and can't wait to return!

Finally decided to try this place for breakfast after passing by so many times, and I'm glad I did. The food was amazing! I had the Mexican Benedict, and my wife chose the breakfast tostadas—both were packed with flavor and offered a nice twist on typical breakfast dishes. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back. The place has a hip vibe with contemporary decor, and there's ample parking in the back. The food is creative, hearty, and delicious. The cheesy tots are terrific, and I'd also recommend trying the burger, avocado toast, and chilaquiles. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of ingredients and the extraordinary meals make it worth it. This has become our favorite breakfast spot. The only downside was waiting about an hour for the food, but if you have the time, it's worth it. The burger was so good that I'd return just for that alone.

I visited Ruby's Diner in Costa Mesa for breakfast and had a great experience. The 1950s Americana ambience is still charming, and the service was prompt and courteous. I ordered the cinnamon French toast combo, which came with two eggs and breakfast meat, and it was delicious. The coffee shake recommended by my server was also excellent. The staff was accommodating and friendly, making my visit pleasant. Whether you're fueling up for a day of shopping or just looking for a good meal, I'd highly recommend this Ruby's location. Vitaly is a delightful spot for breakfast in Costa Mesa. Tucked away in The Camp retail facility, it offers an authentic menu at great prices that really stand out. The atmosphere in the evening is fantastic with cozy little spaces for conversation and an open fire pit that adds a warm touch, especially as the weather cools down. I enjoyed a fantastic local cabernet sauvignon and their prawn and zucchini pasta, which was simply delicious with rich, flavorful sauces. The environment is charming and family-owned, making the dining experience feel personal and inviting. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. Whether you're enjoying a meal indoors or outside, the rustic look combined with the surrounding greenery and fountains creates one of the most relaxing spaces I've visited for breakfast. Their coffee is a highlight too, with their cappuccino and latte being particularly delicious. I highly recommend visiting if you're looking to catch up with a friend over coffee and snacks. Rooster Cafe in Costa Mesa is an awesome place for breakfast. The casual atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel right at home. Tyson, who was working when I visited, was incredibly welcoming and managed everything seamlessly, even though he was handling all the guests by himself. The highlight for me was the wet breakfast burrito, which was absolutely delicious. I also tried the breakfast quesadilla, huevos rancheros, and the early riser sandwich—all were fantastic and offered great variety for any breakfast craving. The seating options are great, with both indoor and outdoor tables available. Sitting outside was particularly nice and calming. Even though I wasn't particularly impressed with the latte, the drip coffee was good, and the overall experience more than made up for it. Rooster Cafe is a comfortable little breakfast joint with tasty food, nice people, and a chill vibe. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing breakfast spot.

Where do I even begin? There were so many things I loved about Breakfast Republic in Costa Mesa. First off, the merch caught my eye with its amazing design and positive vibes. The coffee bar was a highlight, serving some seriously tasty coffee. Although I came for breakfast, it felt like a delightful lunch with perfectly cooked sausages and delicious potatoes and sauces. A big thank you to the team! 🤩 If I could give a higher rating, I definitely would. Everything about this place was great. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the French toast platter, and even the interior of the restaurant was charming, especially with it being pleasantly uncrowded. Our group of five spent a little over $60, which was excellent considering the quality of the food. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great time, and I will certainly be coming back. I met a longtime friend here for breakfast, and the atmosphere was cute with a well-sized menu offering several options. The cold brew was a standout. I ordered the omelette; the only downside was the potatoes, which were cold and hard. Other than that, everything was decent. We spent over $50 for two breakfasts and two coffees, so it might not be an everyday spot, but it’s perfect for catching up with an old friend. I love visiting Breakfast Republic during breakfast hours. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. Plus, they have a great selection of gluten-free options. Cute little spot overall!

The staff was accommodating and friendly, making my visit pleasant. Whether you're fueling up for a day of shopping or just looking for a good meal, I'd highly recommend this Ruby's location. It's clean, well-decorated, and offers classic diner food along with fantastic service.

I've had some of the best breakfasts at Deli & Bagel Cafe in Costa Mesa. Their Denver bagel sandwich is fresh, hot, and delicious, all for under $10. Paired with a refreshing glass of OJ, it's a fantastic way to start the day. The workers here are friendly and quick, making the experience even better. I definitely recommend it and always make it a point to stop by whenever I'm in town. The owners, Irene and June, are incredibly sweet and hospitable, adding a personal touch to every visit. Besides their amazing bagels, they're expanding into Korean cuisine, which is exciting. I love spending my day off here, enjoying a bagel and coffee while chatting with June. It's definitely a spot worth checking out. Plus, their Korean lunch options are something I'm eager to try as they seem great. Just a heads-up: if you arrive late, some popular bagels like the Jalapeño cheese may be sold out. Overall, it’s a quaint shop that’s become a staple in my routine.

Stopped by for brunch because this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who loves the dinner menu here, and the brunch was delicious! A little more on the pricier side, but each dish we ordered was unique and tasty! The Social Benedict was a standout. The pulled pork was savory, and the biscuit wasn't soggy from the hollandaise sauce, which was a pleasant surprise. Everything blended together perfectly. The Chicken and Waffles also impressed me. The waffles tasted different from the usual, and the fried chicken was cooked in a spicy hot sauce that was just right. The cocktail selection was fantastic. I tried the Shiso Boozee, which was well-crafted and unique, though I found it could use a bit more vodka. On another visit, I went for a dinner, and the waiter recommended the bells cocktail and a grain bowl. Both choices were spot-on. The cocktail had a perfect balance, and the grain bowl was beautifully presented and delicious. The seasoning on the quinoa was exceptional, elevating the dish to something I could never replicate at home. The service was also excellent. When I asked for something to spice up my meal, they brought me three options. The Serranos and chili sauce added a nice kick. I appreciated the flavorful plant-based dish, which was reasonably priced for the portion. A bonus was being able to dine with my puppy on the patio. We shared a few items, like the Blistered Shishito Peppers, Green Goddess Salad with hanger steak, and fried fish tacos—all of which were excellent. I'll definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family and will be back next time I'm in Costa Mesa. Thank you for making quality drinks and even better food!

Milligram Coffee and Kitchen in Costa Mesa is such a hidden gem! Tucked away in the back of a plaza, it offers a good amount of seating both inside and out. The cute, modern interior pairs nicely with the extensive outdoor seating area, which is a pleasant mix of trees and neutrals. I took my family here for brunch, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The ambiance is both chic and cozy, making it a great spot to start your day. Their menu has a fantastic variety of delicious options, with the shakshuka standing out as a must-try. The coffee is brewed to perfection, especially their Iced Latte. If you’re looking for a cute spot to sit down, eat, or even get some work done—since I noticed someone working on a laptop—this place is perfect. The staff is friendly and attentive, really enhancing the dining experience. We visited again on a chilly day and decided to sit outside. Despite a heater issue, the owner was determined to get it fixed, which was impressive. It’s clear he’s committed to his business, and it reflects in the quality of the food and service. Breakfast is served until 3 pm, and this place has quickly become my favorite breakfast and brunch destination. With live music on a Friday night and an almost European vibe, it’s also a great spot for Instagram photos. Make sure to visit this little gem for amazing coffee and fresh food. Highly recommend!

While staying in Huntington Beach, we decided to escape the beach crowds and explore something different. My brother recommended NORMS in Costa Mesa, so we gave it a try. Parking was straightforward, and although there was a short wait due to the absence of a hostess, once we were seated, our waiter was quick and attentive. The portion sizes were generous, and I was thrilled with my tuna melt—it’s been ages since I had a good one, and this was excellent! The late-night menu offered a nice variety, and I appreciated that tater tots were an option; they were perfectly crispy and a fun change from fries. The atmosphere was mostly clean, although we did notice some tiny ants near the window, which was the only downside. Despite that, the staff, including our server Hector, were friendly and professional. Even with the late hour, the manager and hostess were attentive, ensuring everything was running smoothly. Prices felt a bit high for a 24-hour diner, but I guess that's inflation for you. We visited on a busy Sunday, but the service was still prompt and efficient. Overall, it was a great experience, and I look forward to returning soon.

Outpost Kitchen at South Coast was a delightful discovery for breakfast in Costa Mesa. It was our first visit, and I was genuinely impressed. I opted for the Real Avocado Toast, which was delicious. The toast itself was thick and crispy on the outside while soft in the middle, topped with super fresh organic greens and avocado. Yum! I chose to add an egg, and it complemented the dish perfectly. My mom went for the Outpost Super Bowl, which was packed with natural tasting greens and berries, though she felt it needed a bit more salt. Our server, Olga, was fantastic—always pleasant, smiley, and attentive. It was such a nice experience being served by her. I was staying at the South Coast Westin hotel and decided to walk over to the mall, where I stumbled upon the Outpost Kitchen. While browsing the menu, the bar and cocktail options were tempting, but it was too early in the day for me to indulge, given my afternoon plans. Nonetheless, our breakfast was lovely. I've enjoyed breakfast here with my wife as well, and we tried the steak and scrambled eggs. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is inviting, and the service is top-notch. I remember being served by a friendly lady named Mikaila with blonde hair on another occasion, and she made our visit special. Outpost Kitchen is a fabulous spot for brunch, especially when you're with friends. We loved the freshly squeezed juices and the colorful presentation of the dishes. It’s a place we all thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely return to.
