Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea

I stumbled upon Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Denton and it quickly became a favorite of mine. I ended up ordering breakfast there three days in a row. On the third day, there was a mix-up with my order—I wanted two breakfast sandwiches with egg and bacon but ended up with just bacon on a bagel. Hopefully, that's just a rare mistake because I really love this place! Their cappuccino is fantastic and it's an ideal spot for catching up with a friend. Despite being in a strip-mall, the vibe inside is hip, cozy, and inviting with plenty of seating options both indoors and outside. The patio even has umbrellas for shade. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. On another occasion, we grabbed some coffees to go. I had the Crème Caramel, which was sweet but not too much, and absolutely delicious. My sister tried the Asiago bagel with egg and cheese, and she couldn’t stop praising it—it was well-flavored and cooked perfectly. The coffee and tea we ordered were hits all around. The shop is clean, open, and beautifully designed. I just wish they’d offer the option to use mugs if you’re staying in, instead of defaulting to paper cups. The ambience is pleasant, the servers are really sweet, and the scones are amazing. Overall, Sweetwaters is a lovely little café with great coffee and baked goods.
Oldwest Cafe Of Denton

I had a fantastic breakfast experience at Oldwest Cafe of Denton. The servers were incredibly polite, and the food was hot and delicious. Just a heads-up, the portions are huge! I had a funny moment when I asked for a coffee O’le with whipped cream while traveling. The server gave me a curious look and asked if I meant coffee with hot milk and whipped cream. My grin said it all—yes, please! I suggest going there hungry because the flapjacks are the size of dinner plates, and the portions are very generous. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which was impressive given how packed the place was. She managed our table of five effortlessly. This is a must-visit spot if you find yourself near Denton, TX. The coffee bar was a delightful surprise, with the coffee being perfectly made and hitting the spot. The staff was amazing—very attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was probably the best I’ve had in the area. My wife and I had a wonderful morning here and plan to return many times. The coffee and food were both outstanding. After finishing some errands at a local clinic, I headed over for breakfast in dire need of coffee and food, and Oldwest Cafe delivered. I ordered the "Cowpoke," which came with a frisbee-sized pancake, one egg, and four slices of crispy bacon. I even added extra bacon before leaving. The cafe is never empty, and as soon as I left, someone else took my parking spot. While there are fancy coffee options, I personally enjoy their strong, classic cowboy coffee. After breakfast, I felt energized and ready to take on the day. The team here makes sure you always have fresh coffee, and they serve it all with grace and warm smiles. If you're traveling along I-35, make sure to stop by and enjoy some authentic Texas hospitality!
Egg House Cafe

Keila Grace
After living in Denton for six years, I finally made my first visit to Egg House Cafe, and it certainly won't be my last. Everything was enjoyable, from the variety of creamer and sweetener choices for my coffee, including stevia, to the delicious breakfast selections. I was thrilled they offer real butter, too. The service from Ms. Vanessa was top-notch. She was patient, offered great suggestions, and was attentive to what I might want to add to my meal. When it was time to pay, she even offered a water or coffee to go, and I appreciated not having to ask for a cup for my extra sausage gravy. I'm excited to bring my sons here for a breakfast treat. If you haven't been or it's been a while, I highly recommend going and asking for Vanessa for excellent service and food. And make sure to tip your servers. Happy eating, everyone! This morning, we also dropped by for breakfast, and our server was very nice and attentive. We ordered strawberry Nutella crepes and French toast. The crepes come in twos, and if you're hungry, I suggest trying the skillet. The French toast was tasty and a perfect portion size. Haley, our waitress, was wonderful and knew the menu well. The atmosphere was nice and clean, and the coffee choice was excellent. The hostess was also great and even offered to take our picture under the "hey y’all" sign when she overheard me mentioning it. It was a fantastic experience all around. Egg House Cafe is truly a great spot for breakfast. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly and fast. I ordered a waffle with eggs, sausage patties, and turkey bacon, and everything was just right.
Rising Sun Cafe

Laura Mccarter
Just had brunch at Rising Sun Cafe with my son and daughter-in-law, and wow, what a fantastic experience! The food was amazing, and everything came out exactly as we ordered. Our server, Gracia, was an absolute delight—so polite, funny, and incredibly helpful. She checked in on us frequently, making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself was spotless and well-organized, with a calm atmosphere that made our meal even more enjoyable. I can't stress enough how large the portions were—huge is an understatement! We ordered the Corned Beef Hash Plate and a Meat Omelette, and both were delicious. The Hash Plate was enormous, with generous servings of beef, potatoes, and salad; we had leftovers for the next day! The omelette was good, maybe not the best I've ever had, but still satisfying. The cappuccino was also quite good. Service was outstanding, which really made our visit special. This spot is truly a gem in Denton and one I highly recommend. Whether you're looking for a cozy place to enjoy brunch or breakfast, this is it. The portions are seriously big, and we couldn't even finish everything. I was so impressed that I wish there was a location closer to where I live, but it’s definitely worth the one-hour drive. If you find yourself in Denton, do yourself a favor and give Rising Sun Cafe a try. You'll be happy you did. I visit with family often and have always found their food fresh and tasty—my go-tos are their lattes, burritos, and sandwiches. Plus, Michelle, the manager, is super sweet and always ensures a positive experience. The food may be a bit pricey, but the quality and exceptional service make it worth every penny!
Torchy's Tacos
2224 W University Dr, Denton

Prem Altiery
Visiting Torchy's Tacos for breakfast in Denton was an awesome experience for me! The menu is filled with creative taco options, and I couldn't resist trying the Republican tacos since brisket and fried onions are my favorites. These tacos are generously sized—I ordered three, but two would have sufficed. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe that's really inviting. The place was clean, and we had no wait for lunch, which was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and helpful right from the start. We began our meal with guacamole and chips, which were fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. For tacos, we tried a variety: Street Tacos like the Fried Avocado and Baja Shrimp on corn tortillas, along with Beef and Chicken Fajita on flour tortillas. Everything tasted fresh and was served hot, except the guacamole, which was perfectly chilled. Maddie took our order and was excellent with her recommendations, enhancing our experience. Emma checked on us, ensuring we were happy with our meal and even offered a coupon for a free 1/2 queso on our next visit. The service was quick, and the food truly lived up to the "damn good" reputation—especially the Baja Shrimp taco. I'm definitely planning to come back for more tacos the next time I'm in Texas.
The Chestnut Tree
107 W Hickory St, Denton
Stephanie Bopp
The Chestnut Tree is a fantastic spot for breakfast on the Denton square. They don’t serve fountain drinks, but that didn’t bother me at all. I tried the caprese panini with chicken and the quiche Lorraine, and both were served quickly by our friendly server. The quiche had an interesting texture, almost like tofu, which made me think it might be made from egg whites. Inside, there's a great little coffee shop with a stand-alone coffee bar, perfect for relaxing on a couple of couches or sitting at a table or booth. I enjoyed the Michigander latte with maple syrup, which was delicious, and you can order drinks to go if you're in a hurry. We stopped by The Chestnut Tree for dinner before the Cirque du Horror show in Denton and tried the Spezzatino stew and Pomegranate & Goat Cheese Tartlets. Both small plates were packed with flavor! I even had the chance to meet the chef, who was lovely. The Chestnut Tree has consistently provided wonderful service and amazing food every time I've visited. It's a must-stop spot in Denton for breakfast, brunch, or just a coffee. I'll definitely be back!
Sidewalk Cafe
2900 Wind River Ln, Denton

Jeter Shields
During our visit to Denton, we stumbled upon Sidewalk Cafe for brunch, and it was a fantastic find. With our dog in tow, we took advantage of the outdoor seating, and the waitress quickly brought a water bowl for him, which was a nice touch. Every dish we tried was excellent, but the sweet potato fries were a standout and highly recommended. The pricing was just right, making it an affordable treat. I visited with my young daughter because she wanted breakfast for dinner, and we were eager to avoid the usual chain restaurants. The cafe had a cozy vibe, and the French toast combo was a hit with her. As for me, the chicken fried chicken was delightful—truly a meal that didn’t disappoint. I arrived expecting a standard experience but was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food. A major highlight of our visit was our server, Emma. She was attentive, witty, and made us feel like we were the only guests despite the rush. Her exceptional service turned our meal into a memorable experience, and I’m grateful for her hospitality. On another visit, I ordered the two eggs and pancake combo with a side of fried Brussels sprouts, while my mom opted for the grilled chicken sandwich with rice and beans. This being my fourth time here, I can confidently say you can’t go wrong introducing someone new to this place. The pancakes were hot and delicious, and although the Brussels sprouts needed a bit more seasoning, they were perfectly cooked. The grilled chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful—no dryness at all. Sidewalk Cafe is surely a gem in Denton for anyone craving good food and great service. Emma and the team know their way around the kitchen, and I look forward to returning.
Starwood Cafe - Rayzor Ranch
2530 W University Dr Unit 110, Denton

Martha Martinez
Breakfast at Starwood Cafe in Rayzor Ranch was a delightful experience. The CFS & Eggs breakfast was among the tastier versions I've had, and I truly appreciated that they took my request for crispy hash browns seriously - they were perfect! Arriving on a Saturday morning around 9:30, we were pleasantly surprised with no wait time. Despite the small size of the restaurant, the atmosphere felt welcoming, and the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Although the iced tea was a bit weak, everything else made up for it. I ordered the classic breakfast with turkey sausage, eggs over hard, hash browns, and grits, while my son enjoyed strawberry pancakes and scrambled eggs. His pancakes looked absolutely delicious, and he seemed to enjoy them thoroughly. On a different visit, I tried the bacon egg omelet with avocado, hash browns, and pancakes. While the bacon was slightly dry, the omelet tasted alright, and the hash browns were crispy, albeit a bit salty. My husband's ham and cheese omelet was delicious, though his waffle and hash browns were also on the salty side. My daughter loved her chicken fried steak, despite finding the hash browns salty as well. Despite the occasional over-seasoning, the food quality and variety were impressive. The menu offers a wide range of options, including gluten-free choices. The standout dishes included the Mediterranean omelette and Starwood eggs benedict, cooked to perfection with excellent sides like fresh fruit. Overall, Starwood Cafe provides an excellent breakfast option, especially if you're visiting UNT. The friendly service and delicious food make it a spot worth returning to. Highly recommend giving it a try!
Chestnut Tree Bistro

Mario Martinez
Chestnut Tree Bistro in Denton is a gem for breakfast. On First Fridays, their Italian food is a standout! The entire staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. Nick, our server, was fantastic, and several others also chipped in to help, which was great. It’s a laid-back place to enjoy a book too. I’ll definitely be back. After hearing one of my clients rave about their lunch, I had to try it and was not disappointed. The service was outstanding, with a really friendly and fast team. My vegan meal was excellent, and I appreciated the attention to detail to ensure everything, including the potatoes, was vegan. My husband loved the Monte Cristo sandwich. The place is a charming addition to Denton's square, especially on Italian-themed nights. The food was great, the service was sweet, and the atmosphere was lively. The decor is chic and the place, though old, has its charm. The hostess and customer service were on point. We tried a few dishes like the Healthy Hippie, American Breakfast omelet, and a decaf latte, all of which were delicious. Vanessa, who was in training, did just fine. The only downside is the lack of designated parking, which can be a hassle during busy times. Overall, it’s a delightful spot with high-quality food and attention to detail.
Stacks Pancake House
1020 Dallas Dr, Denton

Teté Mohey
On my first visit to Stacks Pancake House in Denton, I found it to be a charming place with some excellent food. I'm a big fan of corned beef hash, and theirs was absolutely delicious. It's the perfect spot for anyone seeking a quiet place for a hearty, down-home breakfast. Both the waitress and hostess were attentive, and from what I could see, the cook was handling every order efficiently. The food was made fresh to order and arrived quickly. For a small gem, the taste was impressive. We were seated promptly, our orders were taken quickly, and our meals arrived without delay. The pancakes were filling yet surprisingly light on the stomach. Their freshly squeezed orange juice and large, tasty sausage links were a standout. I also appreciated their 10% military discount. Everything in the restaurant, from the tables to the restroom, was clean. The service was timely, with our waitress being both friendly and polite. The presentation and taste of the food were excellent, making it a place I would definitely recommend. My wife and I love breakfast, and our experience at Stacks was fantastic. The fresh veggies in the omelet and my wife’s skillet were great, as were the biscuits and fluffy pancakes. Although the freshly squeezed orange juice comes at a slightly premium price, it's well worth it. Our waitress, Iidaliz, checked on us seven times during our 40-minute visit, which was impressive. With our son attending the university in town, we plan to visit often. This hidden little gem in Denton is a must-try.
Seven Mile Cafe
2123 Sadau Ct, Denton
(940) 808-0200
Chris Arteaga Lomonaco
My wife and I came to Seven Mile Café for breakfast and had a great experience. We found plenty of parking and were seated immediately with no wait. Our server was quick to get our coffee orders, and we were impressed by how fast our food arrived. Everything we tried was delicious. The Brioche French toast was the best we've had, perfectly balancing sweetness and flavor. We also enjoyed the pumpkin spice latte, which was tasty even without whipped cream. The staff was incredibly friendly, and we felt welcomed, especially since we were sitting outside with our puppies. The avocado scramble and Southern Benny were fresh and flavorful, showcasing the café's strength in savory dishes. The Seven Mile Café latte was a standout, rich and smooth, adding to the overall meal. While we loved most of what we ordered, the cinnamon bun wasn't up to par; it was dry and stale, which was surprising given how great everything else was. Nevertheless, the positives far outweighed this small disappointment. The ambiance was welcoming and lively, making for an enjoyable breakfast outing. If you're in Denton and looking for a hearty breakfast with excellent service, this place is well worth the visit.
The Great Egg - Denton
1800 S Loop 288, Denton
(940) 566-3447
Ivey Violante
I went to The Great Egg in Denton for a breakfast/lunch combo, and it was fantastic. We started with the chicken apple walnut salad plate, which typically comes with a croissant, but my wife opted for a lettuce wrap instead. I decided on the Belgian waffle, accompanied by warm syrup, two eggs, and sausage patties. Everything was really good and flavorful! The service was outstanding, with Joaquin doing a great job attending to all the guests. The atmosphere was wonderful, making it an ideal place for a healthy meal. What really stood out was the variety in the menu, offering more than just traditional breakfast items. The chicken apple walnut sandwich was light, flavorful, and fresh, and the dressed greens were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and loved it, especially the red sauce, which was super flavorful. The portion sizes were just right, and the staff was very friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their fresh juices are a must-try, setting this place apart from other breakfast spots in the area. I tried the Crab Benedict and the Monterey Benedict, and both were really tasty. The Great Egg has definitely become my new go-to breakfast spot, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for flavorful food and great service.
Loco Cafe
603 N Locust St, Denton
(940) 387-1413
Dino Moultry
Our first breakfast experience at Loco Cafe in Denton was fantastic! I ordered the French toast, which was a tad overcooked but still delicious. My husband tried the Eggs Lunatic and biscuits and gravy, and he loved every bite. The food was hot and fresh, which was impressive since we ordered take-out and had an 8-minute drive home. The chai tea latte came in a fancy shaker, and it was awesome. The pancakes and French toast were heavenly fluffy, and the avocado toast was amazing. I got the Migas, and they were spot on. Just a heads up—the 603 sauce is a red sauce, so you might want to ask for extra tortillas. I couldn't resist snagging a bite of the breakfast nachos, and they were great too. We went for their ice box coffee, reminiscent of a Starbucks caramel latte, and served in a cool shaker. The coffee ice cubes were a brilliant touch! My mother summed it up perfectly: "This place makes sense." It truly does, providing homemade food with original flavors and style. I also tried their Shaken tea with chocolate flavoring in a frosted glass, which paired wonderfully with the buttermilk pancakes. I was pleasantly surprised by the homemade cinnamon syrup and butter. Plus, they had a great ToGo area to prep your own drinks, and I loved being able to take home a lemon ice water. Highly recommend! 👍👍
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store
4008 N Interstate 35, Denton
(940) 382-5277
Danny Andrus
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Denton is a charming spot for breakfast with lots of choices, including all-day breakfast items, which I love. Although I had a small mix-up with my order, the New York Strip Steak was cooked well, even though it wasn't what I initially wanted. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly, which left a positive impression on me. Portion sizes are decent, filling enough for my appetite. Their country store is packed with unique items, making it hard to leave without picking up something interesting. While some of the merchandise can be a bit pricey, it's always fun to browse. I was slightly disappointed with a few details, like the smaller amount of sides and the change from jars to cans for the fried apples, but overall, my meal was satisfying. Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite restaurant chains, especially as an OTR driver, since I often find them along most US highways. The interior has a cozy, rustic feel, and the meals are hearty. The servers are polite and well-trained, though I do wish they offered a better selection of decaf teas, perhaps some herbal options. Overall, it's a great place to eat and enjoy a visit.
Dix Coney Island
123 N Elm St, Denton
(940) 218-1735
Roberto Rivera
This place is so yummy! It has a Western diner feel, and the staff is both lovely and helpful. You seat yourself, so I chose the neat bar area they have. The menu offers a variety of items, and while I was tempted by the coney dog (which I've had before and was delicious), I decided to try something new: the Avocado Farm Fresh Egg BLT. It was flavorful and a little messy with the runny egg, but I would definitely order it again. Be sure to experience this restaurant for yourself! The Brooklyn Reuben is easily one of the best hot sandwiches I’ve ever had. This was my first visit to Dix. I was across the street getting a tattoo at Dark Age. Jessica was super friendly and helpful. Great experience. I’ll be back next time I’m over in Denton. As a Detroit native raised on Lafayette Coney Island, each time I eat here, wonderful memories of happy times with my grandparents and parents flood over me. From the time you walk in and the aroma of Michigan chili fills your senses, it just feels like home. All of the servers are awesome, but Shelby is our favorite—more like a family member than a waitress. Thank you for being a taste of home right around the corner!
Fuzzy's Taco Shop
115 Industrial St, Denton
(940) 435-0640
Michael Brockington
I had a mixed experience at Fuzzy's Taco Shop for breakfast in Denton. The food is consistently epic, and that's what keeps me coming back. There have been occasions when they've missed a few things in my order, but each time the taste more than made up for it. A small tip would be to always include utensils and napkins, as I had to ask for them last time. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, especially on Taco Tuesdays. Aaren, the GM, and the staff truly make you feel at home and ensure your order is spot on. However, the bar service left something to be desired. The bartender seemed disconnected and more interested in her own conversations than serving customers. Despite these hiccups, the food at Fuzzy's Taco Shop is undeniably excellent, and I always leave satisfied. I recommend sticking to the food and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
Rusty Taco Denton
210 E Hickory St, Denton
(940) 483-8226
Liza Amaya
I visited Rusty Taco in Denton for breakfast and had a great experience. The service was impressively quick, even though it was busy during the Day of the Dead celebrations. They offer a fantastic selection of tacos, and the nachos are a generous portion. If you enjoy sitting outside, their heaters make it comfortable even in cooler weather. Despite a few past disappointments, I'm happy to say this visit changed my mind, and I'll definitely be stopping in more often. The improvements have brought back some of the charm from my college days, and I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu.
Mi Casita
110 N Carroll Blvd #100, Denton
(940) 202-0121
Marco Antonio Perez
I walked into Mi Casita for breakfast in Denton without knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food fantastic, but the owner was incredibly friendly and personable, sharing his inspiring journey to opening such a wonderful restaurant. This hard-working family serves up food that's truly authentic. I had the fresh guacamole and chicken fajita nachos—both were delicious and fresh! The salsa was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. While not everything was perfect, like the taco meat and the stale tostada shell, I am very partial to authentic barbacoa, and Mi Casita delivers the "real deal." I was invited to breakfast and enjoyed their barbacoa, which was spot on. On another visit, I tried their lunch specialty plate of Carne Guisada, and it was amazing! It's so good that even if you order a single à la carte item like breakfast tacos or a fajita taco, they throw in some chips and salsa, and sometimes guac too, making it a great value. Their outdoor seating is definitely a reason to return. Even if everything wasn't perfect, the overall experience and quality of some dishes make me want to go back and try more.
Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Christopher Watts
Fuzzy's Taco Shop off Highway 35 in Denton is a solid spot for breakfast. Their tacos and drinks are great, and the customer service has definitely improved. The place isn't huge inside, but there's a nice covered patio for extra seating. I usually grab my food to go. I’m part of the Denton County Jeep Club, and when we visit, the staff is always ready to handle our group, bringing food out to the patio quickly and fresh. Big shoutout to JaCorey for the great service. They serve a mean-sized burrito for a great price, like the chorizo, potato, cheese, and egg burrito, which is pretty tasty. I paired it with a side of borracho beans and a Dr. Pepper and enjoyed the good music and atmosphere while sitting outside. Overall, it's a nice and quiet spot worth checking out, especially if you enjoy good tacos and a chill vibe.
Waffle House
3113 Bandera St, Denton
(940) 243-5257
Marigona Kothapalli
Quiet on a Friday night, which was good. Candi was lovely, and all the staff were attentive. The waffle was falling apart and a little soggy but still good. Eggs with tomatoes were great, and the coffee was nice. It's a pretty decent breakfast joint with good service and hot food. We ordered the "All-Star Breakfast" meal, which was more than enough food at a reasonable price. Two eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, and a waffle for $9.50. This place is smaller than most Waffle Houses. It is Sunday and very busy. However, there was no excuse to be set next to the trash and the flies. Gloria was our server. She was absolutely incredible! She made our kiddos' first experience at Waffle House one to remember, and we will certainly be coming again soon!
