The staff is always kind, and our orders come out fast and affordable, which makes supporting this friendly local spot even better. The shaded back patio is a lovely bonus, especially since it's dog-friendly. I could easily see myself becoming a regular here if I lived nearby. While the prices are okay considering the portion sizes, the food selection is delicious, and the atmosphere is great. It’s a fun, small local spot for sandwiches, snacks, and some groceries. The mama mia sandwich was super yummy, and I also appreciate that they serve Rebel bread by the loaf and have lots of canned drinks available. Although the parking is street parking and there are just a few tables for outdoor seating, it doesn’t take away from the experience. Initially, I thought about giving it 4 stars due to the price of the burritos—they’re $7.75, or $9 with tax and a small tip—but considering the overall quality, I'd say it's worth it. Comparing it to places like Santiago's or Araujo’s, it might be a little pricier, but the quality is there. The cute atmosphere, nice patio (best in the morning before it gets too hot), and excellent service make it a spot I’ll definitely come back to, perhaps for coffee next time!

Though it's a bit disappointing to change breakfast plans during that time, you can't help but admire his hustle. Spices Cafe serves a basic breakfast and lunch menu, but it's done right every single time. I highly recommend trying the breakfast croissant sandwich with added avocado or a protein—it’s fantastic. I worked a block from Spices for years and got to know the Chef, so this review is long overdue. It's truly a hidden gem on Colfax, often overlooked for trendier spots. The entrance is on Humboldt, nestled among other businesses, so it’s easy to miss. There’s outdoor seating, and inside you'll find tables and a counter. Grab a menu when you walk in, order and pay at the register, and they’ll bring the food to you. I've never had a bad meal here. Some things I particularly love: the classical music always playing, the hand-shredded and amazing hashbrowns, the chill and pleasant crowd, and the friendly, fast service. Though we used to live within walking distance, we don’t anymore, and I’m thrilled they've survived the pandemic. If you haven’t visited, do it. You’ll get a nice meal in a pleasant environment, which means a lot to me. It's a small cafe with simple but good food. While the space isn't huge, especially without the patio during colder months, it adds to the cozy feel. The croissant sandwich impressed me with its fresh ingredients, and while the side of pancakes wasn't as fluffy as it looked, it was still decent. It's probably the best example I can think of across the country! Well done! I highly recommend trying the smoked brisket omelette if it's available—it was a special that day, and it came with tasty home fries. We had a fantastic server, Jeremy, for a couple of days, and the other staff members were great as well. The modern, trendy diner vibe with plenty of seating both inside and out was welcoming. They offer a wide range of drinks, from signature cocktails to mimosas, bloody Marys, and more. We tried the Denver Frittata, and it came piled high with kale salad. Though not a huge kale fan, I quickly discovered that the salad with green goddess dressing brought amazing flavor to the dish. So good! The staff made sure we were taken care of, checking on us often and refilling drinks. This might be one of the best breakfasts I've had—my husband and I take breakfast seriously.
