Sunday's Best - The Brunch Spot is my go-to for catering in Detroit. The chef is incredibly nice and professional, always arriving right on time with hot, fresh food. The crustless quiches are perfect for the keto crowd, and there are plenty of pastry options to choose from for something special. The bacon is cooked just right—crispy and brown, with no flimsy pieces here! While my crowd doesn't usually go for carbs, the waffles and chocolate chip pancakes are tempting. The savory options are also fantastic, with fried chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and biscuit sandwiches. The variety of quiches available is impressive. The only downside is not being able to try everything on the menu. When my office party needed a last-minute caterer, Sunday's Best came through, and everyone loved the Chicken and Waffles. Niko was a huge help and very gracious. For my personal order, I tried the sausage breakfast burrito, OG waffle, and hash brown casserole with a side of spicy ketchup. The burrito, paired with the spicy ketchup, was amazing and so filling that I couldn't even get to the waffle right away. There was a minor website mishap, but the staff was quick to make up for it by throwing in extra maple bacon, which was a sweet gesture and really made my morning. The cheesy potatoes were great, but the standout for me was the grilled cheese with bacon, preserves, candied bacon, and jalapenos. It was an outstanding combo at a fair price. Sunday's Best is convenient, delicious, and a spot I will definitely be returning to.

We waited about 30-40 minutes for Sunday brunch at Dime Store, and it was definitely worth the wait. I recommend making reservations for next time. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, with top-notch bacon. My partner really enjoyed the French toast, and the fresh orange juice was a bonus. I'll definitely be back. I've heard a lot about this place, and while it didn't completely live up to the hype, it wasn't disappointing either. The service was fine, although we didn't get water refills, and the food was good, just not the next-level flavors I anticipated. The location is convenient and the place is clean. I'll try something different next time; this visit, I had the fajita omelette with a biscuit and bacon. It's a great spot for brunch! We liked the espresso martini, lavender lemonade, spicy chorizo hash, and enchilada omelette. The homemade strawberry jam was fantastic. I recommend it and it’s worth the 35-minute wait. Dime Store is a gem in Detroit. The menu is creative, with seasonal ingredients from local farms. The duck op hash with pickled veggies and an English muffin with house-made strawberry jam was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff's energy was incredible—everyone was working together like a family, and the hospitality was impressive. The host kindly watched my luggage while I was seated. I will recommend Dime Store to everyone visiting Detroit.

I heard about Dutch Girl Donuts reopening a few months ago and finally got the chance to stop by today. On a chilly, rainy Thursday morning in November, nothing sounded better than donuts. The place is small, and it quickly started to feel crowded inside, but the woman behind the counter was incredibly quick and super friendly. I picked a half dozen: three double chocolates, a nut-covered one, and two that I thought were chocolate glazed. Turns out they were maple, which I'm usually not a fan of, but these were unexpectedly delicious! I ended up eating both right away. I'm saving the rest for later and can't wait to dig into them. It's fantastic to see this Detroit staple back in business. My dad used to take us there as kids when they stayed open 24 hours, and the donuts would be fresh out of the oven. The staff today were amazing, working hard to keep everything running smoothly. While I appreciate all the effort from the workers, it was a bit frustrating that those of us waiting outside for a long time didn't get any updates from management. A little communication would have gone a long way! Still, the staff on the donut-making line were awesome, and I'm grateful for their dedication. Dutch Girl Donuts lived up to its reputation, and I'm beyond thrilled to have finally visited. These donuts were definitely worth the wait, and it's clear why they have been a beloved part of the city for so long. To the team at Dutch Girl, keep up the great work! I'm so glad I found Evie's Tamales! I had an amazing breakfast experience there. The place is incredibly affordable, which is great because I work a lot and eating out can get pricey. The Huevos a la Mexicana I ordered were delicious and took me back to breakfasts my grandma used to make. The service was quick, and the waitress was very sweet, though I forgot her name. The salsas were packed with flavor, especially the spicy one! I even took some spicy pork tamales home for later. I'm excited to return and will definitely recommend this spot to family and friends. Evie's is a fantastic place, hands down. We once went as a group of seven on Cinco De Mayo, and the wait was only about five minutes. Every staff member was pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant was very clean. Their food deserves a 10-star rating, and the homemade huge cookie for dessert was a delightful surprise. Anyone visiting Mexican Town needs to stop by this establishment. In my opinion, Evie's has the best tamales in Detroit. Whether you order them individually or by the dozen, dine-in or carry-out, they never disappoint. Honestly, I could eat a dozen tamales with some hot salsa. Simple, tasty, and consistently great. While there might be other items on the menu, I'm hooked on their tamales. I only wish they had longer hours! Our family has been coming here for over 30 years, and we love it. The food and service are always top-notch, and the prices are the most reasonable in town. Evie's is a true gem!

I stopped by Jordan's Family Restaurant in Detroit for breakfast, and I must say, the experience was delightful. I tried the soup of the day, which was lentil soup, and ordered the chilaquiles. One thing I appreciated was that the chilaquiles came without eggs by default, unlike other places where I usually have to request it. The option to add eggs or meat for an extra charge is a nice touch for those who want it. I also loved their use of queso fresco instead of the usual shredded white cheese—much better in terms of taste and texture. This was my first visit since the renovation, and I absolutely loved the new look. The atmosphere is cute with Spanish music playing in the background, which really set a nice vibe. The only minor downside was the smell of Fabuloso used for cleaning nearby tables. It was a bit strong, but luckily, it came at the end of my meal. Despite that, I will definitely be back for the great food, friendly service, and lovely atmosphere. I usually get the breakfast #1 with eggs over easy, bacon, sausage, and white toast, but the new Mexican options on the menu are tempting, and I’m excited to try more. The service was fantastic; my food came out hot and fresh in record time. This place has been around for years, and now I see why. If you haven’t already, you should definitely stop by and give it a try.

Avalon Cafe and Bakery is one of my favorite spots in downtown Detroit, especially with its prime view of Woodward. Whether it's for lunch or brunch, the food never disappoints. I love that the menu features monthly specials, keeping things fresh and exciting. Their mocha is unbeatable, and both the matcha and chai were just perfect in taste and temperature—not to mention they looked beautiful! I enjoyed the traditional eggs Benedict while my partner had a stunning spinach salad. I also tried a seasonal fall hash with root vegetables, over medium eggs, and sourdough. The dish was quite filling, and while a sauce might have elevated it, the vegetables' flavor and texture stood out on their own. My daughter devoured her soup and bread, and my cousin enjoyed a Cobb salad, with plenty left over to take home. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Detroit, though I'll make sure to plan more time for parking since street parking can be tight during lunch hours. The process is straightforward: order at the counter and find a table; they'll bring the food to you. If you order a coffee or cocktail, stay close to the bar to hear when it's ready. The food was great, with no complaints from any of us. It's a solid place to visit if you're in the area. Though they advertise a bakery, it seems items are outsourced, and during my visit, they were out of lox and sweet and low. They open at 8 am but could use a restock on bakery items, which was a bit of a letdown. On the bright side, the vanilla latte was excellent.

Babo is a fantastic breakfast spot that I’ve visited multiple times, and each visit has been satisfying. The coffee is delicious—I tried the hot mocha latte, which was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, the service is consistently excellent and the food comes out quickly. The location is convenient if you're heading to the DIA or downtown, making it a great choice for starting your day. I recommend making a reservation since the place is small and often busy. During one of my visits, we arrived at 11 a.m. on a Sunday and had to wait about an hour, but it was worth it. I’ve tried several dishes here. The breakfast smash is good, although I feel it could benefit from something fresh like a slice of tomato. The countryman breakfast is a solid standard meal. One of my personal favorites is the crème brûlée French toast—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfect without syrup. The breads are phenomenal, and I’ve also enjoyed their Krispy wings. The omelettes are excellent as well, especially with the side of kimchi. The only minor letdown was the salad, which had a sweet dressing that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Despite that, the overall experience is delightful. I highly recommend Babo for its great service, unique dishes, and cozy atmosphere. I’ve brought family and friends from out of town, and they were thoroughly impressed. I’ll happily keep returning.

This diner truly captures the essence of a classic American eatery. From the menu to the lively atmosphere with bustling waitresses, it was a delightful experience. The food was not only delicious but also arrived promptly. The corned beef sandwich was tender and juicy, with perfectly toasted bread. The burger had a great bread-to-meat ratio, though a bit more seasoning during cooking would have been ideal—just a minor nitpick. Overall, it's a spot I'd definitely return to. We managed to get in just before breakfast ended, and the dishes were fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. It's a super-clean, friendly place with fantastic traditional diner fare that's perfect for a simple, relaxed meal. The staff was nice, the breakfast was excellent, and the prices were more than fair. There's plenty of seating in the back and a quaint little counter up front. The restroom was extremely clean, adding to the overall positive experience. It's easy to find, just a block past the food trucks in Cadillac Square—an excellent place to unwind, chat, and enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee. What a hidden gem! With its great ambience, delicious food, and excellent music, this diner is a must-visit. Unpretentious and comforting, it's highly recommended.

I've been wanting to check out Folk Detroit for breakfast, and I finally got the chance today. The food was great! We tried the Crunch Wrap and the Heirloom BLT, and both were fantastic. My kids loved the biscuits and jam. The 20% auto gratuity was a surprise, given there's no table service, but I do support small businesses, especially those that use locally sourced products. The breakfast experience was fantastic, and the outdoor seating was cozy. I had one of the best lattes ever, and the bacon in the biscuit brekky was a standout. The menu may seem simple at first, but the flavors are anything but. Every dish, from the peach and snap pea salad to the Tempeh, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich, was a delightful surprise. We’re already planning our next visit, maybe even tomorrow! I also loved the goat cheese asparagus melt. The side of greens was super fresh, and the matcha was perfect. The staff was friendly, and everything was high quality. It’s a bit pricey, especially with the gratuity, but it's worth supporting a place that cares about quality and sourcing. My matcha and melt were $30 with the tip, but it felt like a good investment in a great local business.

I visited Louie's Ham & Corned Beef for breakfast, eager to try their famous corned beef, and I have to say it lived up to the hype. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, and while the rye bread wasn't particularly distinct, the corned beef itself was incredibly delicious. It was the best corned beef sandwich I've ever had. The Thousand Island dressing could have been better, but the quality of the meat more than made up for it. The service was excellent, even though the place was packed. The inside was clean, with plenty of natural light, making for a pleasant dining experience. I'm in town for a convention, and having the food delivered was a breeze. It arrived warm and just as tasty as if I were dining in. It was a delightful brunch spot with prompt service and a great atmosphere to enjoy with friends. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

Zeff's Coney Island in Eastern Market is a fantastic little joint that nails all the diner classics. Although I came for the coney dog, I ended up trying more from their menu, and everything was tasty, quickly prepared, and served hot. While I didn't initially plan on having breakfast, seeing what others were ordering made it clear why it's one of their big sellers. The place is small, so be ready for a potential wait, but it's definitely worth it. During my first visit to Detroit, I decided to try both a Coney dog and biscuits and gravy at breakfast time. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. The kitchen staff did a fantastic job on my first Coney dog and the biscuits and gravy. The food was amazing! I also couldn't resist trying the Reuben Daddy while my boyfriend had Zeff's coney dog. Portions were huge, and I even took half of mine home for leftovers! As a vegetarian, I can't get enough of their super hippy hash, which is one of my favorite breakfasts in Michigan. The food is consistently delicious and comes out super fast. The staff runs this place like a well-oiled machine, always kind and thoughtful. I've been coming here for a long time, and I hope it never changes, except maybe for adding a plant-based breakfast meat to their menu!

See You Tomorrow for breakfast in Detroit has quickly become one of my favorite spots. My son absolutely loved the Chicken and Waffles, and while the Southwest Scramble could have used a bit more seasoning, it was still a decent choice. The service was exceptional, and everyone was incredibly friendly. I truly appreciated how helpful the staff was in guiding us through the menu on our first visit. The Crab & Smoked Salmon Croquette Burger and the Beet, Strawberry, and Bacon salad we shared were delicious, and the fast service made our experience all the better. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm, and a special shoutout to Jay for his top-notch customer service. It was thoughtful of him to offer assistance with the baby seat, which shows the level of care they have for their customers. While the inside was a bit cramped, I foresee this place growing and expanding in the future. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I’m looking forward to going back!

What an awesome dining experience at Honest John's! This place is definitely not your typical small diner. The decor is fun, and the music is just right—not too loud. I tried the egg scramble, and it was delicious. They have good breakfast options that are very affordable. Our server was fantastic, though I didn’t catch his name. He was super friendly. My group really enjoyed their cocktails, so pace yourself! Plus, they’re open late, which is a bonus. I would highly recommend this spot. Now, about the bathroom—it might look a bit sketchy with all the graffiti, but it was surprisingly clean. I go here quite often and usually have a great experience. Usually, I have Jeff as my waiter, who is awesome at customer service. Today, I had a different server for breakfast. I ordered my usual: coffee, a side of pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese, green peppers, and onions, and house fries. Unfortunately, I found a bug in my food. The waitress handled it by taking the plate to the kitchen and offering to remake it, but I declined because I was quite disgusted. I was surprised to still be charged for the pancakes, especially without an apology. It was disappointing since this used to be my favorite dining spot, and I won't be returning. Had Jeff been there, I would’ve felt heard and understood. My advice would be to brush up on customer service so customers are comfortable returning. When trying out Honest John's as a new place, I found the atmosphere okay—it seems like a popular spot for college students and young adults. The service was fine, and I have no complaints there. However, the food was a bit challenged. I ordered chicken and waffles, and while the waffle was decent, the chicken was like those basic frozen wings, fried way too hard. I like crispy chicken, but this was overkill. My companion had a patty melt, and the meat was also overly well done, with all the moisture fried out. The fries were just okay. While I enjoy trying new eateries, I’m not in a rush to return. This place has a lot of character—I've never been so struck by a bathroom before that I felt the need to take a picture! I came in for breakfast and had 2 eggs, hash browns, sausage, and toast with water. It was great. The service was quick, and the waitress was nice. The waiter even asked if I liked what was on TV or wanted to change it—really considerate. It seems like a fun place to visit in the evening, but it was pretty quiet when I went, which I loved. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Detroit.

Farmer Frank's in Detroit is a fantastic spot for breakfast. The place has a great diner feel with a bit of an upscale twist. I love that they have a full menu for both breakfast and lunch, which makes it super convenient. The prices are really good too, which is always a plus. The food came out super fast, which was great. I tried a crepe, and it was delicious—just a heads up if you're not into lots of Nutella. It wasn’t super filling for me, so adding a side might be a good idea. I also had the Pancake breakfast with eggs, grits, and bacon, and it was so tasty I couldn’t finish it all. It made for perfect leftovers. Years ago, before moving to Texas, this was a favorite spot of mine for Saturday mornings, and the food is even better now. The owner is polite, and the food never disappoints. King Lemonade was eager to try this place, so we went for lunch, and even though it wasn’t exactly what we expected, it was a nice experience. I had the fish and chips. The fries were a bit unique, not the usual potato taste, so I set them aside and focused on the fish, which was decent. King Lemonade ordered a breakfast dish and enjoyed it. The real highlight for me came with my next visit. I ordered a waffle and shrimp and grits with cheese. The waffle struck a perfect balance between fluffy and crispy, while the shrimp and grits were tasty, though a bit thinner than I’m accustomed to. This spot definitely deserves a return visit. It's a must-try! The staff, including the owner, chef, and waitress, were all incredibly kind and attentive. You can really feel that they put their heart into their work. The food is excellent and feels homemade, which is rare to find in a restaurant. Every dish tasted like it was straight out of a family kitchen, not like typical restaurant fare. The pancakes had good flavor, the toast was perfectly done, the eggs were well-seasoned, and the hashbrowns were delicious. I’m not sure where the negative reviews are coming from; maybe some folks are hard to please. The place was spotless and welcoming, with comfortable, spacious seating. I had a great experience at The Lodge Diner for breakfast. Sure, there's usually a 10-15 minute wait, but if you have the time, it's definitely worth it. I tried the Lodge Special with scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns, and toast. With a bit of hot sauce, the eggs were fantastic. It's a shame I had to rush because of my schedule. For dinner, I tried the Fried Cod Sandwich with French Fries. The cod was delicious, with a perfect crisp and moist inside, and the tartar sauce added great flavor. The portion was a bit small, though. The fries stood out for their good seasoning, making them enjoyable even without condiments. Be aware that the fries or onion rings are ordered separately, costing $4 and $5, respectively. Service can be slow, but the food makes up for it. We once stopped by for lunch after a business meeting, and everything was good, especially the guacamole dip. The onion rings were huge, and we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Prices are reasonable, though they might be a bit high for some. The atmosphere isn't impressive; it feels like being in a downtown office building rather than inside a casino.
