Bob's Downtown Restaurant

Craft Madely
After spending a day exploring Mobile, Alabama, and needing a break from the heat, I stumbled upon Bob's Downtown Restaurant. What a find! The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly, and the reasonable prices were a pleasant surprise. I decided to order from the lunch special menu and went with the Seafood Etoufee, Buttered Carrots, and Fried Okra. The rice in the etoufee was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning hit just right. Everything was ready within minutes, which was perfect since I was hungry from my walk. The staff made me feel right at home, providing outstanding customer service throughout my visit. The waitress was both attentive and pleasant, adding to the overall great experience. I can't recommend this place enough, especially for a relaxing meal with delicious food. On another visit, I tried the breakfast burrito with a spinach wrap and paired it with a spicy Bloody Mary. It was a great start to my vacation day! On Wednesdays, their Meatloaf is a must-try, deserving all the 5 stars it gets. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying their country fried steak. Bob's Downtown Restaurant is a delightful diner, conveniently close to my hotel, and it has quickly become a favorite spot of mine. Thanks to everyone there for making my dining experience so wonderful!
Ruby Slipper

We had a lovely brunch at Ruby Slipper in downtown Mobile. The outdoor patio, shaded by surrounding buildings, gave off a cozy vibe that reminded me of New Orleans. The food was outstanding. We tried the fall special pumpkin French toast and the tomato eggs Benedict, both of which were delicious and worth ordering again. I also had a pumpkin iced latte, which was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Despite being busy, the service was quick, and our meal was served promptly. We started with fried green tomatoes, and I had shrimp and grits while my boyfriend chose the trifecta eggs Benedict sampler. My grits were cheesy and full of flavor, and his eggs were poached to perfection. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and these guys know how to do it right. When we asked about the fried fish, Jason checked with the kitchen and, luckily, some had just come in. The fish and grits were absolutely mouth-watering. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, along with cinnamon toast bits and bacon. We will definitely be coming back when we visit the area again. The French toast bites were exceptional, and the cane syrup butter deserves a mention too. This is our favorite brunch spot in Mobile, and it's worth the short drive from Daphne. Highly recommended!
Serda's Coffee Company

Serda's Coffee Company is a fantastic downtown coffee spot that I visited for breakfast. The place has a cozy, intimate vibe with a great selection of coffee drinks and food. The service was quick and efficient, making it a perfect stop for a quick breakfast on my way out of town. I had the southwest breakfast burrito, which was wonderful, and everything came out hot. The coffee was delicious, especially with their unique coffee ice cubes for iced drinks. I also tried their iced green tea and had avocado toast on another visit. The only suggestion would be to mention the additional toppings on the avocado toast, like onion, bacon, and tomatoes, on the wall menu or inform customers in advance. The atmosphere is enhanced by plenty of local art on the walls, and it looks like they host open mic nights, adding to the charm. It's a cute shop with a meeting room and a clean bathroom. While parking might be an issue during busy downtown hours, it's definitely worth the visit. Despite one staff member being a bit distracted as she ended her shift, the rest of the team was friendly and helpful. I also tried a wrap during a busy lunch hour, and it was fantastic. I would definitely go back for another visit.
Big Bad Breakfast - Mobile
1812 Old Shell Rd Suite D, Mobile

Stepping into Big Bad Breakfast in Mobile feels like taking a nostalgic trip to a modernized 50’s diner. The vintage silverware and overall clean vibe add a unique charm, which is complemented by a neat and tidy restroom—a small detail that makes a big difference if you know what I mean. The food has its hits and misses, but the highlights are worth noting. The waffle was perfectly light and sweet enough to enjoy without any syrup, though it’s on the pricier side. If you’re a meat lover, the Big Bad Skillet is a great choice, but keep in mind that the potatoes are soft due to the skillet cooking process. The steak and eggs offer a well-seasoned ribeye that’s reasonably priced, though it’s not the highest quality cut. The breakfast potatoes were standout—crispy and well-seasoned. Biscuits reminiscent of those from a road trip gas station bring a sense of nostalgia, especially when topped with their outstanding gravies. Service could use a bit more attentiveness since I found myself waiting on drink refills, but our server was otherwise friendly and proactive. The aesthetic of the old-school coffee mugs adds to the diner vibe, even if the coffee itself is just average. This spot is perfect for brunch, and I’m keen to return again; although, I wouldn’t recommend takeout. Their Creole omelet boasts tasty fillings, but it’s not your typical omelet since the ingredients aren’t tightly wrapped with cheese. The tomato gravy is a must-try, even though I had to add a bit of Tabasco on the skillet potatoes myself. Their merch is a nice touch—good quality tees at a fair price. The hometown atmosphere is delightful; seeing staff chat with familiar faces was heartwarming and showed the deeper connections they build with their patrons. For those needing connectivity, the Wi-Fi is solid, allowing you to get some work done over breakfast. While my breakfast wrap was a bit underwhelming, the friendly vibe and standout dishes like the Benny make Big Bad Breakfast a spot I’ll keep coming back to.
Fat Boys Diner

Stopped by Fat Boys Diner for breakfast today and couldn't be happier with my experience. Yes, there was a mix-up in the kitchen, but the owner and the lady up front handled it with such grace and excellent customer service. The food was top-notch and the whole atmosphere was friendly and welcoming—exactly what you want in a breakfast spot. I ordered the pancakes, breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, and some cornbread, and each item was absolutely delicious. The grilled pork chops were a highlight for me, with perfect seasoning that really hit the spot. You could just tell everything was freshly cooked. The service was quick, the place was clean, and you could feel the pleasant vibe as soon as you walked in. It felt like everyone, especially the older patrons, were right at home. Even the parking was easy, which is always a plus. I was passing through Mobile on a road trip to New Orleans and decided to stop here because I wanted more than just the usual fast food. I'm so glad I drove the extra miles to check this place out. The food is affordable, with a variety of options that cater to every taste—whether it's scrambled eggs "with cheese" or "and cheese," they know the difference and it shows in their cooking. This isn't just a one-time stop; I'm planning to come back the next time I'm in the area. Seriously, you won't be disappointed!
Waffle House

We ate at Waffle House today and it was the best meal we've ever had there! Mrs. Francis was our server, and she truly has the perfect attitude and personality for this business. The food was delicious, but the service made it even better. She kept our sweet tea coming and was just a joy to be around. Even on the 4th of July, she was excited to be there. We're thinking about going back tomorrow, even though Mrs. Francis will be off—the food is just that good! I ordered a waffle, and it was perfect, even though there were only a couple of customers when I ordered around 6:37 am. A little effort goes a long way, and I'd say this location is one of the best in Mobile. We went on a busy Saturday morning and were still well taken care of. Our waitress was very nice, and the manager was checking in on everyone regularly. The food was great! Waffle House really knows how to make their customers feel at home. Thank you!

Absolutely the best coffee, hands down! The staff is always amazing, helpful, and friendly. The beignets are always warm and perfect too. I love an iced mocha latte, and I appreciate that they offer almond milk, as I have to drink it. This coffee shop never lets me down—whether it's a regular cup of Joe or a fancy iced coffee, their coffee is consistently delicious. When I first came into PJ's Coffee, I had only heard rave reviews from friends, and I was looking for a job. The welcome was immediately pleasant, and the service was top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend this coffee shop to others, and I will definitely be coming back myself.

I can't say enough good things about Maple Street Biscuit Company! While on vacation, we stumbled upon this gem through Google Maps, and the food photos convinced us to give it a try. I'm thrilled we did! The biscuits and gravy are out of this world. My husband loved the Sticky Maple sandwich so much that he ordered a second one, saying it was too good for just one. Prices are reasonable, and the service was quick. We also tried the Sweet Grace waffles and 6 iced cinnamon biscuits, which did not disappoint. The real maple syrup they serve is a nice touch. Initially, we noticed that the biscuits had gotten smaller and service slower, but it seems someone listened to feedback because everything was back to being great—larger biscuits and outstanding service. The cashier was super helpful and kind, and the food was fresh and served quickly. It's a great spot for Saturday brunch with family or friends. I recommend trying the coffee and Keto Bowl. It's clearly a local favorite. We found ourselves at Maple Street after a routine trip to the hospital, arriving around 9:15 am. The parking was full, but we easily found a spot at the nearby city park. The restaurant caters to both carry-out and dine-in, and we chose to dine in. The setup inside is designed for speed and efficiency, resembling a three-bay car repair shop—a unique and functional ambiance. I ordered a chicken biscuit sandwich with cheese and maple syrup, which was hot and tasty. My wife had a Hash-Bowl, which arrived with some cold parts. They were quick to apologize and reheat it, and she even suggested a slightly different procedure to prevent it from happening again. Overall, Maple Street Biscuit Company is a fantastic breakfast spot that delivers on flavor and service. Highly recommended!

From the moment I stepped into Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, I felt like I was transported into an inviting, nostalgic space reminiscent of an old country store. The unique selection of clothes, jewelry, and candy is a charming touch, but the highlight of my visit was breakfast. The pancakes were tasty, even though I’ve had better elsewhere. What truly made the experience memorable was our server, Garrett. He was exceptionally friendly and attentive, truly setting a positive tone for our morning. Thanks to Garrett’s outstanding service, we are eager to return and try the dinner options.

My family and I had a fantastic breakfast experience at the IHOP on the Service Rd in Mobile. As soon as we walked in, we were seated right away, which was a nice start to our morning. Our waitress, Brittany J, was wonderful and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome in a world that often feels automated. While there was a bit of a wait for our food, it was worth it when everything arrived. My food was piping hot and delicious, especially the Tres Leches pancakes, which are now my favorite! Although I didn’t like having to walk through the kitchen to get seated, and my pancakes were a bit cold, these were minor issues in an otherwise excellent visit. The Veterans Day celebration was a meaningful touch, and I appreciated the support for vets. Ariel's hospitality made the meal even better, with fresh food and fast, friendly service. Despite living in Foley, I will definitely be back. I highly recommend this IHOP for its charming, old-fashioned feel and great deals on meals.

While visiting for a dog show, I had an incredible breakfast experience at Brick & Spoon off I-65 in Mobile. The place was great! I started with a burger and fries at the bar and enjoyed two refreshing mimosas. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept my water glass full. I grabbed a salad to go, which was impressively large. They forgot my extra dressing, and it seems they don't offer crackers, but that's a small detail in the grand scheme. The service was top-notch, and the food was delicious. I even got to meet one of the co-owners, Britany, who was very welcoming and hospitable. We frequent Mobile to visit family from Atlanta, and I can’t wait to return. The atmosphere is definitely a vibe. Our waitress, Alexis, was outstanding, guiding us through the menu and helping us pick fantastic dishes like the On The Bayou Benny and The Big Chick. She and the host, Michael, were wonderful with my toddler, always making him smile. They're truly some of the best in the service industry. During my second visit, I tried the vegetable Benedict the morning after Thanksgiving. Initially, it had a sour taste, likely due to too much vinegar in the eggs. Although I was offered a replacement, I had already eaten most of it and declined. A bit more hollandaise and less vinegar next time would be perfect. Overall, Brick & Spoon offers great service and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot!
REDBAR Espresso & Market LLC
7681 Old Shell Rd Suite A, Mobile
(251) 285-2300
Tray Maysonet
REDBAR Espresso & Market LLC is hands down the best spot for both burgers and coffee in town! Whenever I want a burger, the two patties are great, but going for four is my personal favorite. It's always satisfying, and I often find myself comparing other burgers to REDBAR's, wishing I had just come here instead. Their sauces are top-notch, meeting even the pickiest of tastes. Oh, and the grits? They're incredibly creamy and delicious, especially when you add the Dubliner cheese for a bold kick. I dropped by around lunch and decided to try the spinach and feta omelet with a side of steamed cabbage. It was so tasty that I completely forgot to snap a photo until I was halfway through! The food came out steaming hot, which added to the delight. While the coffee can have a robust, almost smoky bitterness, it's still quite good. The garlic-infused fried potatoes are a nice touch, but what truly stands out is this place's ability to serve not just breakfast and coffee, but also a satisfying lunch and dinner. All in a quiet, laid-back setting. If you're looking for great food in a relaxed atmosphere, REDBAR should definitely be on your list.
Bubbles and Brunch

Marie Dooley
Celebrating my brother-in-law’s baby shower at Bubbles and Brunch was absolutely amazing! From the start, Danna made scheduling and planning a breeze. DeAnna, Elizabeth, and their team coordinated everything beautifully during the event. Their organization and kindness were top-notch, showcasing excellent customer service. The food was delicious with everything tasting fresh and full of flavor. There wasn’t a single complaint at our table. I’m already looking forward to returning for brunch and would definitely consider hosting another event there. It’s a fantastic spot that I highly recommend. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch with spot-on service and a great atmosphere, even though there were a few screaming kids around, which wasn’t the restaurant's fault. The only minor gripe was the sides being served in paper trays, which seemed out of place with the otherwise classy setup, but it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the meal. For our first visit, we tried the Shrimp & Grits and the Cajun Seafood Omelet with a side of grits, both of which were fantastic. The Sriracha Pork Bowl appetizer was our only disappointment, as it tasted more like BBQ sauce. Despite service being a bit slow, the staff was friendly, and the establishment, including the bathrooms, was clean and well maintained. Overall, Bubbles and Brunch offers a fairly good brunch experience. Traditional breakfast dishes like waffles, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and eggs were generally good, although some were not perfect. We spent around 45 minutes there, so be prepared for a slightly laid-back pace. Nonetheless, it was a decent dining experience, and I'm eager to return.

I always enjoy having breakfast at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Mobile. The overall experience is consistently delightful. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to start the day. The breakfast menu has plenty of options, and the food is always delicious. The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, and the bacon is cooked just right. The hashbrown casserole is a personal favorite - it's so satisfying and comforting. The service is excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who make sure everything is just right. I've always found the prices to be reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It's a reliable place to get a hearty breakfast and enjoy a warm, welcoming environment. I look forward to trying more of their menu items in the future!
IHOP

This morning, I had breakfast at IHOP and it was a great experience overall. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Ms. Candy, our server, was fantastic. She made sure we were well taken care of, especially with the kids, keeping them entertained and ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and cooked just the way we liked, with the kids finishing everything on their plates, which is a rare occurrence. While the white egg omelet seemed a bit pricey, it was worth it for the quality and taste. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was efficient, and I appreciated the effort the staff put into making our visit pleasant. I left feeling satisfied and appreciated, making it a place I'd consider visiting again for a nice breakfast outing.
Panera Bread

I had a great experience at the new Panera location in Legacy Village. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ready to help out with any questions. I found the kiosk ordering system quite convenient, though a larger font option would be helpful for those with vision issues like me. The atmosphere is welcoming, and I still enjoy the food and coffee. The soufflés seem a bit different from what I remember, but they're still tasty. My favorite soup is the broccoli cheese, which always tastes fresher at the restaurant than when I buy it from the grocery store. In August, I enjoyed the promotion of a free bagel every day, which was a delightful bonus. The staff members at the front counter are particularly impressive; they made my visit pleasant with their cheerful service. The bread is always delicious, although some sandwiches could use more filling. While prices can be a bit high for a small lunch, the overall experience and quality of the food make it worthwhile. The restaurant could improve its communication regarding order pick-up, as it was a little confusing the first time. However, these small issues don't overshadow the positives. The dining area is cozy, though sometimes a bit busy, and the Mediterranean salad is nice. I remember the old Panera for its smooth service and this location brings much of that back with improvements. Overall, it's a solid place with good coffee and delicious food.
Waffle House

Mark Gonzalez
We arrived at Waffle House during the shift change, but the service was still fantastic, even with a new employee in training. My parents hadn't visited in a while, and I was eager to enjoy my favorite meal—breakfast for dinner. The S'mores waffle was better than expected, and the steak and eggs, my all-time favorite, didn't disappoint. My dad enjoyed his plain waffle, and my mom was pleasantly surprised by the burger's good patty-to-bun ratio. She was initially unsure about having hash browns instead of fries but ended up loving them since they were just how she liked. Cindy, our waitress, was amazing—I've never had better service. The store was immaculate and inviting. I'm glad the staff has changed since my last visit, where my steak was overcooked, and I didn’t get a refund. This time, everything was cooked to perfection, and the staff was genuinely accommodating and kind. The location, being clean and close to our hotel, added to the convenience. While Waffle House food isn't my personal favorite, the overall experience was enjoyable. If you like Waffle House, you'll know what to expect and love it. This visit was truly a good stop, and I'll definitely consider returning if I pass through again.
Waffle House

I've been to Waffle House for breakfast in Mobile a few mornings, and overall, I had a positive experience. The food was cooked quickly and accurately, which is something I really appreciated. My server was friendly and respectful, making sure I had everything I needed. The cook did a great job; the food tasted just right. I especially want to thank Dion and Jason for their efforts in making my meal enjoyable. However, the place can get busy, and I noticed the manager didn't seem to help the staff much, which was a bit surprising. It could definitely help if everyone pitched in during rush times. But I'm grateful for the good service I received from my server. There were a few hiccups with the coffee on a couple of mornings, where it wasn't ready, but the server was quick to brew a fresh pot. I understand that these things happen, and it was handled well enough. Despite some small issues, I plan to return for the good food and the warm service I've had.
The Breakfast Spot
119 Dauphin St, Mobile
(251) 308-8966
Hugo Mcdonald
If I had to describe The Breakfast Spot in one word, it would be "DELICIOUS!" I stumbled upon this little gem during an early morning ride and decided to give it a try. I'm thrilled I did. Every bite was a delight. To sample more of the menu, I invited a friend to join me. My friend ordered the Mardi Gras omelet, while I went for the Pancakes and Chicken platter. The portions at The Breakfast Spot are generous, and the flavors are spot on. The pancakes were reminiscent of a lemon pound cake, with a subtle lemon and vanilla flavor and crispy edges that were absolutely amazing. The chicken was perfectly hot, fresh, and crunchy. The true standout was the Mardi Gras omelet. It was packed with crawfish, shrimp, Conecuh sausage, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, green onions, tomatoes, green peppers, and a delicious cheesy sauce. It was so substantial that we even had leftovers to take home. If you’re in the mood for fresh, made-to-order food with great customer service, you’ve got to try this place. This was my second experience with The Breakfast Spot; the first time, a coworker brought me an egg sandwich with fries. Visiting in person, I found the place cute and cozy. There are a few minor issues that need addressing, though. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, which was nice, but it took a while for the food to arrive. While this was understandable for freshly cooked food, seeing an employee eating in front of waiting customers wasn’t ideal. Additionally, they need a better system for storing wine and orange juice to prevent potential cross-contamination. Overall, despite these small issues, I will definitely be returning. The vibe, music, and drinks were all top-notch, and I heard they even host events. It’s a great spot for a birthday get-together, with good food and atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
