Chick-fil-A

I had breakfast at Chick-fil-A in Topeka, and it was a pleasant experience. The Mac n Cheese was a standout—absolutely delicious and creamy. The cashier, Jackson, was fantastic; he was professional and polite, making the whole process smooth and enjoyable. My husband’s Spicy Chicken Club Meal was spot on, and he enjoyed every bit of it. While there were a few hiccups, like the lettuce being wilted and the grilled chicken a bit dry, the manager was proactive and offered a replacement, which I appreciated. The effort to address my concerns by returning my call a few days later showed their commitment to customer satisfaction. The food quality is consistent, and I know what to expect every time I visit this location. For those seeking a good fried chicken sandwich, I’d recommend trying the spicy one. Despite the minor issues, I’d still choose Chick-fil-A for a reliable breakfast option.

Absolutely loved the energetic personality and engagement there today. There was a wonderful team member with beautiful blue nails who really made my afternoon special. She and her team are so kind! I wish Scooter's Coffee was on DoorDash because being visually impaired means I can't drive, but I would definitely order regularly if I could. Every morning before work, I'm here grabbing something hot with an extra shot of espresso, while my little one enjoys a kid's smoothie. In my opinion, they are faster and better than Starbucks! Thanks, Scooter's, for making great coffee quickly and starting my day right.
Hanover Pancake House
1034 S Kansas Ave, Topeka

After visiting the Capitol and tackling all 296 steps to the top, we were definitely ready for a hearty meal. We decided to stop by Hanover Pancake House, and from the moment we walked in, we loved the cute decor and the pictures on the walls. It really set a warm, welcoming atmosphere. My daughter couldn’t get enough of her cinnamon roll French toast, which was a hit. I tried their new sausage, and it was super tasty. My dad mentioned the hashbrowns were perfection. I opted for the jalapeno bacon burger, and while the burger itself was okay, the jalapeno bacon was amazing! My husband had the Reuben, and he thought it was solid. The highlight for my son was the chicken and waffles—they were probably the best boneless ones I've tried, even though I usually prefer bone-in. Our server, Sherry, was fantastic. She made us feel right at home and was especially great with our 2-year-old, bringing over toys and being so nice to him. The service overall was excellent, and the food came out quickly. The pancakes were pretty good, but I thought they were a bit small for the price. We also loved the chicken fried steak bowl and the corned beef bowl. Both were awesome, and the biscuits were incredible. Though the eggs Benedict wasn’t stellar due to the over-poached eggs, the thick slice of ham was very good. Despite that, I’d definitely recommend Hanover Pancake House for breakfast. The staff was incredibly polite, and we were seated quickly. I’ll certainly be stopping by again when I’m in town.
Jason's Deli

Need a quick bite to eat and maybe make your own salad? Jason's Deli in Topeka is a fantastic spot to stop by. I swung by right at 10 a.m. and was pleased to find the staff ready and eager to help, especially since I wasn’t sure what to order. The interior is spacious, with plenty of table seating, making it easy to settle in comfortably. The highlight for me was definitely the salad bar—well-stocked, fresh, and brimming with a wide variety of dressings and toppings. It's the perfect place to craft a salad just the way you like it. I ended up getting the capers sandwich along with a side salad, and the salad was so amazing I almost forgot my sandwich was coming! It's a great way to load up on veggies. My son tried the fettuccine Alfredo and absolutely loved it. My husband went for the muffuletta, which he said was alright, but he would probably try something else next time. The only small downside was that the booths are lightweight and tend to slide around a bit. Overall, Jason’s Deli offers a delicious and wholesome meal with a diverse menu, ranging from hearty sandwiches to comforting soups. The quality of the ingredients shines through, and I love the selection of organic and healthy choices. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual meal with family or friends. It's always a satisfying stop, and I highly recommend it.
Spangles

This place is the backbone of Midwest eating. The prices are terrific, and the quality is solid. The service is great, and you really can't beat their pricing. When I visited, I ordered an All American meal with mayo only. There was a bit of a mix-up, and I ended up with a honey mustard burger instead. The staff explained they use honey mustard mayo instead of plain, which would have been helpful to know beforehand. Despite this hiccup, the overall experience was enjoyable. The restaurant captures an authentic '50s diner ambiance with its music, flooring, booths, and tables. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of options like Angus burgers, chicken, onion rings, seasoned fries, ice cream treats, salads, and even a few cocktails. The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and it was quite delicious. The place was also spic-and-span clean, adding to the positive experience. I learned it's a Kansas-only chain, and I'm glad we gave it a try. Like most fast-food places, you may not get something fresh off the grill, but it’s still a satisfying stop if you're in the area.
Perkins American Food Co.
1720 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka

Perkins American Food Co. in Topeka is my go-to spot for breakfast. They have an amazing spread of pies on the menu, and my favorite is the apple pie. The food menu looks delicious too. I've had their steak before, and it’s both flavorful and reasonably priced. I enjoy coming here with my family, especially for special occasions. I took my daughter for her 10th birthday breakfast, and even though our server forgot a few things, the cashier made up for it by giving her a slice of pie and a cookie, which was a lovely gesture. For us vegetarians, they’re quite accommodating and have no issue removing meat from dishes. My favorite is the mushroom omelette. My wife had scrambled eggs and pancakes, but they weren’t quite up to par. The eggs were overcooked, and the pancakes were burnt. When we mentioned it at the register, it wasn’t addressed, which was disappointing. Overall, it's a decent Midwest restaurant with fair prices and good portions. The decor and cleanliness are solid, and while there is room for improvement in food quality, the customer service and timeliness are generally good. It's a reliable spot for an affordable family meal, and I appreciate what they offer.
Panera Bread
1421 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka

Ghadeer Slaughter
I decided to try breakfast at Panera Bread in Topeka, and overall, it was a positive experience. I ordered the Kicking Melted Cheese, and it was awesome. The salsa verde sauce added a nice kick, the bread was soft, and the cheese was delicious. The French onion soup was tasty but could've been even better if it were piping hot. The young lady who took my order was incredibly pleasant, which set a positive tone for my visit. I opted for the Pick Two, choosing the strawberry and chicken salad along with the steak sandwich. The sandwich was hot and perfectly made. The salad did have a few bad pieces of lettuce, which was a bit disappointing. I also had an iced coffee that didn’t quite hit the mark. The Kitchen Sink cookie was something I’d been looking forward to for a long time. It looked amazing, but unfortunately, it seemed underbaked and was too doughy for my liking. Despite a few hiccups with the food, the friendly service made up for it. While there are areas that could use improvement, particularly with the cleanliness and organization, I still enjoyed my meal overall. The staff was welcoming, which made the experience better.

This place is wonderful. I love when I can find a spot that feels old-fashioned, and Spangles in Topeka hits the mark. I only had a cheeseburger and fries, but they were excellent, especially the garlic parmesan fries—they really smacked! My family and I loved the experience, and we're already planning to visit again. The interior is cool, and the bathroom was clean, which is always a plus. I also want to shout out to the guy who made sure I didn’t leave my car door open. My buddy Lorenzo was watching the car, but I really appreciated the extra lookout. Even though I was the last order of the night, they still treated me well, and I’m grateful for that. Spangles offers a lot of variety, from breakfast to burgers to desserts and even alcohol. It’s nice knowing it's a family-owned Kansas franchise. My kids enjoyed the burgers and fries, and I appreciated that I could find healthier options too. The only downside was the cashier at the counter, who seemed a bit short with us. We needed to ask questions due to dietary allergies, and it felt like a bother to her. Other than that, everything else was top-notch. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for that classic diner feel with great food and service.
Daylight Donuts
4201 SW 21st St, Topeka

Ruekeshia Manuel
I decided to grab some breakfast at Daylight Donuts in Topeka and ended up with a mixed experience. I bought 60 donut holes just after 5 am, and I was surprised to find out that the price was higher than what was displayed on the drive-thru board. The board showed it as $11 and some change, but I was charged $15.55. It was frustrating to find this out only after they swiped my card. When I questioned it, the staff member mentioned that the prices hadn't been updated on the board and showed me the receipt without really acknowledging my concerns. Despite the pricing issue, the donuts themselves were delicious! The variety they offer is impressive. My family and I decided to go inside the shop, and we were hit by the amazing aroma of fresh donuts. My daughter insisted on getting some for the road back to OKC, and I’m glad we did. The maple bacon, blueberry, and cherry cake donuts were standout favorites. However, the service could have been better. We were hoping to sit down and enjoy our breakfast, but the only table with chairs was apparently reserved for staff, and we were asked to leave. That was disappointing, and my husband wasn’t happy when they denied him a refund. The donuts were great, but the overall experience was marred by poor service and a lack of seating. If I return, it might be just for a quick drive-thru pick-up given how tasty the treats were.

I had breakfast at Spangles in Topeka and it was a great experience. The staff was attentive and timely, and the location was impressively clean. Despite the busy drive-thru, the inside was quiet and relaxing. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Value Meal and swapped the drink for a Snickers Turtle Slide. The sandwich was delicious; I usually need extra mayo, but this one was perfect. The highlight was definitely the fries—fresh, hot, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. My husband and I agreed they were the best fries we've ever had. The service was excellent, and while the turkey sandwich was a bit bland, the overall quality of the fast food was decent. I loved the different seasonings available for the fries and their ice cream is really good. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the pup cup is free! The employees were all friendly and had smiles on their faces, which added to the positive atmosphere. Plus, seeing that they serve alcohol was a fun surprise. Overall, it was an enjoyable breakfast experience.

When heading to Spangles for breakfast in Topeka, there's always a feeling of consistency and satisfaction. Despite some initial hesitations, the place never fails to deliver a solid experience. The manager, who clearly knows her stuff, crafted my salad just the way I wanted it. It looked and tasted great, proving it's never too early for a salad. The store maintained its cleanliness, which always enhances the dining experience. The atmosphere appeared inviting from the outside, thanks to the drive-through option I used. The food was served hot, with the mushroom Swiss burger standing out for having just the right amount of mushrooms. While the onion rings weren’t my favorite, the overall experience was still positive. Service speed was commendable, with the staff being consistently friendly and competent. Although sometimes the sandwiches have a bit more butter or oil than I prefer, others seem to enjoy it, so it's all about personal taste. The iced tea was notably fresh and crystal clear during my visit, which was a refreshing touch. Spangles remains a staple in my rotation of lunchtime spots, reliably delivering a good meal and experience.
IHOP

One of my favorite stops for pancakes and breakfast in the U.S. is IHOP, and the Topeka SW Wanamaker Branch is no exception. My husband and I came here for an early breakfast at 6 am due to jet lag, and it was fantastic that they're open 24 hours. Our experience was absolutely fantastic. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and seated promptly. The menu offers an incredible variety of delicious options, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot, thanks to the great service. Our server, Gavin, went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. He was attentive, polite, and professional, making sure we had everything we needed without any hassle. The pancakes were fluffy, the coffee was fresh, and the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. Overall, this IHOP location delivered a stellar dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and excellent service. We'll definitely be back, a solid 10 out of 10!
